Is That Poop? Yuck!

September 26, 2009 By LaVonne

So, from the start I have been grossed out by poop on fingers or on any other place besides the diaper or toilet. I think my attitude has rubbed off on the Princess. The only time she pooped in the bath tub water (after the newborn stage) was probably around 8 months old. She freaked out. Cried hard. She hates poop. So last week when she stuck her finger in the back of her diaper and got poop on her finger she DID NOT like it. So of course, she ran to me and tried to wipe it on me. (Lovely, how … [Read more...]

Please, Can I Get Some Sleep?

September 22, 2009 By LaVonne

She is 21 months and is still not sleeping well. It is a rare occasion when she actually sleeps all night without waking up. The last week has been a horror though. Not sure if it is a phase, my husband says it must be. He tells me, "Don't get upset, she wants to sleep. She is frustrated too." Yeah, that does not help me though. I am the one up with her all night so I am running low on patience and tolerance. Is anyone else out there dealing with this or dealt with it? I need some words of … [Read more...]

Things She Loves Thursday – Toy Story

September 10, 2009 By LaVonne

This week the Princess has formed an attachment to Toy Story 1 and 2. My father-in-law sent us a box of VHS children's movies and this week my husband, Tyler, put in Toy Story (a favorite of both of ours) and she LOVED it! Which surprised us. She normally does not have more than 10 minutes attention span for cartoons. But not this time. Now she wants to watch it all the time. I actually have to limit it to once per day (in a couple intervals). Now I have the fabulous idea of buying it on DVD … [Read more...]

Talk to Jesus

September 8, 2009 By LaVonne

So today was a hectic Labor Day. I am preparing for a consignment sale at the end of this month so I am went through bin after bin of the Princess' old clothes. Categorizing them by size I then combed through them and set aside ones that were worthy of consignment. Once I registered to consign, I then made tags for each outfit, books, VHS tapes, or blankets. I safety pinned these items, hung them on hangers, or put them in gallon sized ziploc baggies.Did I do this easily with a toddler in the … [Read more...]

Works For Me Wednesday: Hopeful News

September 2, 2009 By LaVonne

Do you ever get tired of watching the same old news? Of course you do! I hate listening to all the terrible things that are happening in the world. My husband and I frequently comment about how the reporter stays so unsympathetic when they are reporting on terrible news. So when I read about Daryn Kagan in a magazine recently, I had to check her website out. A former CNN reporter, Daryn Kagan now reports on hopeful news. Good news that shows us that yes, great people do exist and live in our … [Read more...]

Jump Up For New Things!

September 2, 2009 By LaVonne

This week Isabella jumped off the ground with two feet for the first time. She has been jumping around a lot for months, but could never do it with both feet. She bent her knees and squatted low and jumped. We applauded her like crazy. Which of course made her so happy. She has also learned blue very well this week. She recognized the color (painted on the sidewalk) and said blue all by herself. I was impressed. Now for more colors. (Blue is my favorite you know!)"Mine" has become Isabella's … [Read more...]

Marriage is For Life!

August 31, 2009 By LaVonne

While we were on vacation in Washington state, my husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary. One way to make your home "sing" is to choose to stay married and have a good happy marriage. Marriage is not always easy but love should be a choice not just a feeling. Our choice is to stay married, put God first in our marriage, and be together for life - no matter what. I am so glad we have made that decision. We are happily married after 10 years and I can't wait for 10 more! Gen. 2:18, … [Read more...]
