So today was a hectic Labor Day. I am preparing for a consignment sale at the end of this month so I am went through bin after bin of the Princess’ old clothes. Categorizing them by size I then combed through them and set aside ones that were worthy of consignment. Once I registered to consign, I then made tags for each outfit, books, VHS tapes, or blankets. I safety pinned these items, hung them on hangers, or put them in gallon sized ziploc baggies.
Did I do this easily with a toddler in the house? No. A frequent phrase today was, “No Bella, don’t touch that.” (Obviously I had to do this task in shifts throughout the day – to preserve my sanity.) So I shouldn’t be surprised when Miss Bella started telling me NO. I calmly told her not to tell mommy no, which she replied: “No, no, no!” in a loud voice. My reaction – time out. But did she stay in the corner? Nope. So off to the play pen (timeout for Bad Girls) she went. I have to now pull the playpen away from the bed because she can climb out now. After I pulled her out and we sat on the bed, I barely had the chance to say Why she was in timeout. She knelt on the bed, folded her hands and started to “pray“. (Which we do after I explain why she was punished.) She was ready to jump the gun on the “talk” and get to the good part ๐ It was cute.
Then, tonight I tried begged yelled in vain to get her to sleep for 45 minutes. I finally sat up and said, I need a time out. Isabella rolled over, folded her hands and began “praying”. I could hear her say Jesus, mommy, and auntie. I couldn’t help it, and laughed out loud. She sat up and clapped, thoroughly pleased with herself.
Talk to Jesus, is really starting to click in her mind. She loves it! And after a somewhat long and miserable day that does make me happy.
