This last month our family had a large celebration. My grandfather turned 80. We rented a large banquet room in a new hotel, had it decorated, and catered and shared our favorite memories. We had some Native American songs performed live as well as a few Hawaiian songs. My sister and I prepared an 18 minute slideshow to share with guests and it was a high day.
Is someone in your family having an 80th birthday party soon? Are you looking for ideas for the party? I scoured the internet and Pinterest. I have bookmarked folders and a Pinterest board full of great ideas. A loved on only turns 80 once, and I know you want it to be special.
This was not a surprise party. We wanted my Grandfather’s input in this party. He choose who he wanted to invite as well as the colors. He chose Red, White and Blue for colors.
Here are 4 things we did to celebrate my Grandfather’s 80th Birthday Party:
- Guest Book and Memories Basket
- 1932 Fact Sheet: Grandpa 80th Birthday
- Dollar Store Table Decorations (balloons and wallet sized picture frames for guests to bring home)
- Old-Fashioned Candy Buffet
The above candy are the ones I purchased on Amazon.com, I also found the penny candy jars and tongs to use for the buffet table too. I typed up a bit of information on the candy (all nostalgic from 1930s): Nostalgic Candy. Feel free to print and adhere to buffet labels.
Gift Ideas for 80th Birthday Party:
The above 3 gifts are the actual gifts I gave to my Grandpa for his 80th birthday. He LOVED them! They can all be found at CafePress.com for a reasonable price. (We love CafePress here!)
