This week Isabella jumped off the ground with two feet for the first time. She has been jumping around a lot for months, but could never do it with both feet. She bent her knees and squatted low and jumped. We applauded her like crazy. Which of course made her so happy.
She has also learned blue very well this week. She recognized the color (painted on the sidewalk) and said blue all by herself. I was impressed. Now for more colors. (Blue is my favorite you know!)
“Mine” has become Isabella’s favorite word of the week. Her books, her cup, her food, her clothes, diapers and wipes have all become “mine”. I have tried, in vain I suppose, to not use the word “mine”, but somehow she has picked it up. She uses it all day long. Her daddy thinks it is funny. For now. Just wait, it is already getting old.
Big girls take off their dirty diaper, get a clean diaper, pull out a wipe and lay the diaper on the floor, positioning their body right in the center, trying very hard to get it on. At least that is what my princess tried to do this week. It didn’t work. When I tried to intervene, I got a loud “don’t” and kicking of feet. Such independence! Really, I don’t know if I should be proud or upset. Mostly I was happy that she tried.
Mommy’s “no” has been getting a very disturbing response today as well. So, in order to try my best to nip the behavior in the bud, I put Miss Isabella in time out four times today. I try to be consistent. But she gets out of timeout (which she hates), and does the same thing again! How many times does it take? Please, someone just give me a number (realistically), so I know what to expect. Please???
