Toilet Paper Roll Pumpkin Craft

October 26, 2014 By LaVonne

My Little Man was sick the last few days. Which means, with the hubby in Tacoma for work I was stuck inside with the kids. You'd think I would have gone crazy, but we kept busy. One thing we did was some crafting. We scoured Pinterest for some ideas and I found a few examples of toilet paper Halloween crafts. I didn't want to make a "scary" toilet paper craft but thought a pumpkin toilet paper craft was a fun idea for my Princess. Step 1: Measure width and length of orange construction paper … [Read more...]

Laundry Hack to Remove Grass Stains

Laundry Hack to Remove Grass Stains

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post for Double Duty Divas and DAWN. All opinions are mine. My kitchen gets messy everyday. I have dirty dishes all the time because we eat at home every day, almost every meal all week long. And yes, I am one of those people who washes many items before they get placed in the dishwasher. The pots and pans get washed by hand too. I trust DAWN dish soap to do the job and clean my dishes well. But did you know that you can use DAWN dish soap for more than just … [Read more...]

Easy DIY Sock Puppets

This semester in 1st grade homeschool we are having health class twice a week. We are using (and loving) Horizon Health for 1st grade. Though it is optional for this curriculum, this health class utilizes sock puppets as a teaching aide. I've decided that my Princess and I would make our own sock puppets to interact with during health class. It is a fun way to teach and learn and she is beyond excited about it. We got some inspiration for our sock puppets on Pinterest. We then compiled … [Read more...]

DIY Boxtroll Toilet Paper Craft

We started 1st grade homeschool this week. For an art project we decided to make our own Boxtroll and enter the #BuildaBoxtrollSweeps. I mentioned before that we like to make simple toilet paper crafts. It is a great way to use garbage to make something fun (very Boxtroll of us, I think). We decided to raid the craft drawers and found some heart shaped stickers, construction paper and popsicle sticks. Boxtrolls take the identity of the box they are made out of. {Eggs is called Eggs because … [Read more...]

Build Your Own Boxtroll #BuildaBoxtrollSweeps

It is hard to believe we are almost in the month of September. We will be starting 1st grade homeschool next week. And on the 26th of September the long-awaited family friendly movie - The Boxtrolls will be coming out! Don't forget that from now until September 5th you can enter to win in the Build a Boxtrolls sweeps --#BuildaBoxtrollSweeps! We like making crafts with trash here. In fact we've made a few toilet paper roll crafts and featured them on the blog. Next week for art class we … [Read more...]

$20 Bunk Bed Redo

$20 Bunk Bed Re-Do

I mentioned before that our kids transitioned to their own room with a new (to them) bunk bed. I don't think I mentioned that we bought the wooden bunk bed for $20 from friends. We then went to our local hardware store and purchased supplies for about $30 to refinish and re-stain it. Our bunk bed redo was pretty easy! How old were your kids when they stayed in their own bedroom? We picked it up when the bed was still taken apart. The first step was stripping the existing finish. That was a … [Read more...]

Printable Summer Reading Checklist for Kids

June 12, 2014 By LaVonne

This summer my Princess will still be finishing up Kindergarten homeschool. We have decided instead of giving her 2-3 months off in the Summer, we'll homeschool year round. In August we'll give her (and me) two weeks off before we start 1st grade. A Harvard Family Research Project in 2011 shows the importance of year round learning for kids. What do you think of year-round learning? I want her to keep learning through the summer and one way for us to do that is to have a Summer Reading List. … [Read more...]
