March 28, 2013 By LaVonne

Our family loves getting the chicken alfredo pizza at Olive Garden, but since we are vegetarian we order it without the chicken. January 25, 2013 By LaVonne

My husband was out of town this week. I was home with our two children for 3 1/2 days. Wow! I have so much respect for single moms. Being home alone with my kids was a lot harder than I expected it. The perk about my husband's job is he is home with us, and we go to work with him. We support each other. So since my husband was gone, my Princess and I decided to have a girl's night. Ever since we had girl's day in Iowa last year, my Princess loves doing girl's night when we are home alone. … [Read more...]

This last weekend we decided to make easy yet cute cupcakes for church potluck. We were expecting more guests than normal and wanted to make a larger dessert. My Princess and I made mini sized cupcakes and regular sized cupcakes with the Jell-O poke method. We made Strawberry Lemon Cupcakes by using a lemon cake mix and strawberry Jell-O. and had a pretty good time doing it. We only at one mini cupcake each at the end too. Baking time is in my Princess' top 5 favorite things to do. So I let her … [Read more...]

Baking With Grandma (Almost WordlessWednesday Linky)

January 22, 2013 By LaVonne

This last week my Princess helped my mother, her grandma, make a dump cake for church potluck. My Princess loves making dump cake. This week's dump cake is my mom's recipe: Cherry Pineapple Dump Cake. Baking With Grandma: 1. Mix Cherry and Pineapple on the bottom of the baking dish. 2. Mix yellow cake mix with 1 stick of butter. My mom always melts her butter and then adds it. The mixing of the cake mix and butter is my Princess' favorite part. Top the fruit mix with crumbled cake … [Read more...]

Thanksgiving Breakfast Ideas

November 13, 2012 By LaVonne

Do you have Thanksgiving traditions? This year my family has been talking about new Thanksgiving ideas. We usually have a late lunch with family that day. Since we live here on a reservation, I have a large extended family. We usually rent a large facility and do Thanksgiving potluck style. We bring games and play board games and card games and just have fun and laughter together. It is great to connect with the whole family, but isn't cozy and warm like a meal in a home would be. So, in my … [Read more...]
