What I Learned From 2010

January 19, 2011 By LaVonne

sourceI cannot believe it is already 2011. Wow! When I was a child, I thought we'd be flying in cars by now. Didn't you? Shows you how much I knew.So as I look back at 2010, I want to take the things I have learned and make some simple changes in my life for 2011 and beyond.1. Kidney problems are not fun. Really, I need to drink more water and less diet soda. This is hard. But it is so simple. So I pledge to DRINK MORE WATER!2. We watched Food Inc in 2010 and that resulted in buying organic … [Read more...]

Teamwork

January 8, 2011 By LaVonne

New favorite show in my house: Wonder Pets. Thank you Netflix for streaming this one. My Princess LOVES it. Her new favorite thing is to sing the Wonder Pets song while cleaning. “What’s gonna work? Teamwork…” It is so cute! (I will have to get that one on the Vado HD.) Also, in my impatience to leave the house, (why does it take forever for a toddler to get their shoes and coat on?), I tried to rush the Princess in getting ready. She had a melt down, I did a little bit too. … [Read more...]

Successful Potty Training

November 8, 2010 By LaVonne

Can I take a moment to brag?  Let me have this Mommy Moment please! My Princess does not wear pull ups all day at home. She goes #1 and #2 in the toilet. We are still working on nighttime and time outside of the house. But this is BIG. Top Ten Potty Training Tips: #1. Don’t worry! You don’t see too many “big” kids in diapers. Your child will get it. #2. Don’t push. It does not matter how aggressive you are. Your child will go when they want to go. Incentives don’t really work that … [Read more...]

The Mom Look

October 15, 2010 By LaVonne

Sorry honey, but today is cleaning day. I have a dirty shirt on. I had to borrow the Princess’ purple hair snap to hold my bangs back. {Yes, I know it does not look good.} I have no makeup on. But yes, I did brush my teeth today.     Welcome to The Mom Look. I am so glad you love me no matter what. I am a blessed woman. I will try and do better tomorrow. … [Read more...]

Separation Anxiety

October 14, 2010 By LaVonne

There is free child care at all our seminars. This seminar has two women leading – the Pastor’s wife (who is also the Principal of the church school) and the church treasurer. They are great. Every night the kids get an awesome lesson and craft. I mean, really cool crafts. Guess who does not want to go? Yep, the Princess. She went the first night and lasted about 30 minutes. One of the parent helpers that night brought her to me. She was red blotchy faced and hiccupping from crying so hard. … [Read more...]

State Fair Potty Break

August 24, 2010 By LaVonne

We drove to the Northwest Washington State Fair this last week. For only $10 entry, it is a fun fair. My Princess loves the corn on the cob, I love the chocolate covered strawberries, and my husband loves the fried zucchini with ranch. (Yes I know, none of that sounds too healthy, but it is the fair!) We splurged on a ride pass for the Princess. Out of all the rides she rode, guess what her favorite one was? The glass house maze with funny mirrors upstairs. She went on it 5 times! It was … [Read more...]

How to Be a Good Mommy

August 10, 2010 By LaVonne

Good Mommy That is what I am striving to be. But most days, I need help. I freely admit it. I am convicted throughout the day about my lack of patience, my temper, my tone of voice. I want to be a good example to my daughter, Many days, life with a toddler - a two year old, can be exhausting, demanding, annoying, difficult... You name it and I have felt it. But, I want her to see Jesus in me no matter what. That is my biggest desire. But there are many days that I am rushing through my … [Read more...]
