Letter Writing

July 9, 2010 By LaVonne

Dear My Lovely Home,Can you be a little less well built today? I am thinking I would like you to get no hotter than 78 degrees today. Even if it is almost 90 degrees outside, could you just stay cool. You know, chill out? I do like to hang out indoors some part of the day. Pretty please with sugar on top? With Love,Your Humble ResidentDear Princess,No offense, but I am so over Diego. I hate getting the song "Rescue Pack" stuck in my head every day. Maybe just maybe we can move on to another … [Read more...]

Prayer For Mommy

May 30, 2010 By LaVonne

Breakfast Prayer

My silly Princess prayed the funniest prayer this weekend. We are trying to get her on her potty chair as much as possible now that we are home. But she still does not go poo poo on the toilet. I am getting TIRED of changing her and an often spoken exclamation while changing her is, "Oh Lord, help me!" So imagine my surprise when I started laying her down on the carpet to change her and she said, "Heav (she never says Heavenly, and the reason she says this is to copy her daddy) Father, help … [Read more...]

Hide and Seek

April 22, 2010 By LaVonne

So, now that my Princess understands the game Hide and Seek really well, and she hides when she goes number two - we now have a lethal combination. This week, while my husband was working in the garage (he is such a hard worker!), I was in the house cleaning up after breakfast. When I couldn't hear my Princess for a good length of time, I began to wonder if she was getting into some trouble. Silence usually equates to doing something she is not supposed to. I put down my towel, and started … [Read more...]

Potty Training Success

Our Potty Training Experience

Okay, something quite cool happened yesterday. Dum da da dum... (that is my drumroll) my Princess went Poo Poo on the potty! When she started to hide under the kitchen table we knew exactly what she was doing. Hiding to go poo poo. (Why in the world do kids do that? Just go on the toilet!) So we brought her into the bathroom, set her on the toilet seat, and waited. And waited. And guess what? She didn't go. I then did something drastic. It could have backfired (no pun intended). But I took … [Read more...]

Thankful Thursday

March 18, 2010 By LaVonne

I am very excited. Last night my daughter woke up at 10:30pm, rolled over, and told her daddy, "Pee Pee". He asked her if she went, which she replied no, and then he asked her if she needed to go which she replied, "aye". (I did tell you all once before that she says, "aye", for yes.)Up she got, sat down on Mr. Turtle (our turtle shaped potty seat), and peed! How stinkin' (no pun intended) cool is that?It did take her about 20 minutes to get back to sleep, but we didn't mind. That is the second … [Read more...]

Times They Are A Changin’

March 16, 2010 By LaVonne

Are there any other moms out there who are afraid of the world we are living in? When I read stories about girls getting killed while jogging, it just breaks my heart. But it also makes me more adamant about keeping my own daughter safe. Many might think I am being overprotective but I don't let people watch her (besides immediate family). I feel like you just don't know people these days. You might think you know them, but you don't. Also, when we are at church I always keep her in my sight. As … [Read more...]

Baby This, Baby That

March 14, 2010 By LaVonne

My Princess LOVES small things. Last week, while shopping in a local Food Co-op, she saw the item of her dreams - a "baby" cart. That is what she calls it. "Baby Cart", over and over, and over again; I think I even hear it in my dreams. She pushes that baby cart around the store (we have been there twice now), and I get so nervous. As my husband happily walks along the aisles, I watch her so carefully. For some reason, my two year old has no idea about pushing carts into the other aisles with … [Read more...]
