Five Ways We Spend Less Each Month
I have written about financial topics on the blog a few times the past year. What many of you might not know is that my husband, who has his MBA, loves anything that has to do with finances and saving. He is a bit known, in our circles, as a cheapskate. But honestly, he isn't cheap, he is very smart with money. I am thankful to be married to him. We have a great savings account, own our home and vehicles, and we are maximizing our retirement plans and college savings accounts for the kids. This … [Read more...]
8 Qualities of a Winner
With the New Year upon us all, I know many have made resolutions. You might not have declared those resolutions yet, but in your mind I am sure you are making decisions on doing better in your life in some areas. That is what is so great about the New Year. Books like this make it easier to make changes in … [Read more...]
Reading to Her Brother (melts my heart)
My Princess is reading a lot better now that were a few months into first grade. She still doesn't love it, but she is doing pretty good with it. Unless you make her read, she will always ask you to read for her. I do my best to make her try to read all the signs and directions and titles we come across now. She fights it still. But every now and then, I catch my Princess next to her little brother reading to him. He LOVES books and always wants to be read to. I am a big fan of books. I … [Read more...]
True Christianity: Representing Jesus Well
Most of you know that my husband is a minister. He doesn't pastor a church though. He coordinates outreach for about 100 churches in Washington state. I know I am biased, but my husband is awesome, and I really am blessed to be married to him. There isn't a person he can't talk to, pray with, witness too - he connects well with people of all faiths, ethnic backgrounds, and socioeconomic statuses. As he works to train church members how to effectively share Jesus with their circle of influence, … [Read more...]
Our Black Friday involved Rudolph!
We have a family tradition of putting up our Christmas tree and in-house Christmas decorations up on the day after Thanksgiving - always in the evening. We listen to Christmas music and drink hot chocolate with mini-marshmallows. My Princess has been counting down all week to do it. This special family night really is a highlight of our entire year. We still use an artificial tree that we've used for the last decade. My awesome hubby, puts the color coated branches in each assigned slot, while … [Read more...]
How Successful People Grow
My husband is an avid reader. He loves reading business, finance, and personal growth books. Not to mention the marriage, family and parenting books he also reads. I am blessed like that. I know. He has read books from John C. Maxwell before so when the opportunity arose to review How Successful People Grow, I jumped at it. One more great book to add to our library. He wasn't disappointed. About How Successful People Grow Are there tried and true principles that are always certain to help a … [Read more...]
