My family is sick. It affected me for a couple days, though not too badly. Today, my husband is really feeling it, and my daughter is slowly getting over it. At home, my father, mother and sister were all sick this past week. I am sure we picked it up from them before we left for Northern California. Not fun to travel and settle in a new house when we are feeling yucky. I was a nurse today. I shopped for groceries as quickly as I could today. We are stocked up. When we are traveling and only in … [Read more...]
Starter Juice Recipes
We have been juicing vegetables and fruits now for over a week. We love it. Even my Princess enjoys her fresh juice. She asks for juice with the "baby leaves" (baby spinach). She even helps make the juice, which is fine by me. I like to start her young on healthy eating with great juice recipes. A small glass of fresh juice at breakfast is so wonderful. And the health benefits? Priceless. Some days we do not get the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables. Juicing helps us get the … [Read more...]

A Story of Love
sourceWe had long days since Saturday. Yesterday, I was able to breath, relax and reflect. As I thought about our family friend, dying - choosing to die, I realized that her story was really a story of love. The Love of a mother who went uncomplaining to unnumerable doctors visits. The Love of a father who readily gave up a kidney. The Love of sisters and family, who instead of anger, gave their support. The Love of a girl, who bravely choose to say "no more", and spend her last days with those she … [Read more...]
Goodbye Fast Food
After a long trip to Southern California in a 15 passenger van, and the long drive my husband had to make to get here to Iowa. We have made the commitment to not eat fast food for the next two months. It won’t be difficult. I actually don’t like fast food very well. Not only is it full of fat, sugar, calories, processed junk, it just does not taste as good as what I can make at home. So goodbye, so long, and adios to fast food! Have any of you made any recent changes in your diet? I’d … [Read more...]
10 Things I’ve Learned About Sensitive Skin
We have been dealing with sensitive skin for a long time. As our Princess gets older her skin is getting better, but she still battles dryness and irritation. The things we learned when she was a newborn, I am thankful for. They are guides for which products we will buy for her now, even though her skin has gotten better. Here are the top ten important things we learned about our daughter's sensitive skin and the products we use on her: No synthetic chemicals No synthetic preservatives, No … [Read more...]
Weight Watchers
We are not friends. At least not yet. I hate dieting. I hate the concept of dieting. I am all about lifestyle changes for weight loss not some fad diet. With that said, a year and a half ago I went on Weight Watchers. It was when my Princess was about 8 months old. I did the point system because it was simpler for me. I was able to choose what foods I wanted to eat, and I just counted the points. (Points are calculated based on the calories, fat and fiber in foods.) I lost weight and actually … [Read more...]
