Time Out

March 24, 2009 By LaVonne

Well, I am at my wits end. (I feel like an old person when I use that statement.) Isabella just does not listen not matter what I do. So today after telling her no about a million times with no results, I put her in a timeout. We have a playpen that she has never used as a playpen or anything resembling play or sleep for that matter. She hates being put into it in fact. So she had a timeout in the playpen. She cried like I had done the absolute worst thing ever. I let her stay in there for … [Read more...]

Don’t Touch the TV Buttons

March 23, 2009 By LaVonne

So my Princess is obsessed with trying to push all the buttons on the TV. I thought she would outgrow it since it has been going on for months. I say, No, as firm as possible, she laughs. I grab her and move her away, she laughs. I try to distract her, she goes back. I resorted to flicking her fingers, and she laughs. I let out a yell, and she laughs. I don't know what to do. Is this just a really long phase? What has worked for you all? I think I must just be terrible a discipline. On better … [Read more...]

She Loves Black Beans

March 19, 2009 By LaVonne

In honor of Things I Love Thursday - I wanted to share things that each of us truly love this week. She Loves Black Beans! Isabella loves black beans. She never gets tired of them. Yesterday, we ate a spicy dish, Enchilada Bake, so I heated up some whole wheat noodles with black beans and a little Tofutti Sour Cream. She also loves sour cream. She will eat the sour cream before anything else. I bought a few cans of organic black beans at the local Grocery Outlet, which leads int what I … [Read more...]

That’s My Name

March 17, 2009 By LaVonne

Isabella has been saying her name a lot the last few days. She may have been saying if for longer but we never noticed or understood what she was saying. Now when she sees her picture on the wall, in the frame, on the laptop background, she says, "ideda". It is so cute; it almost sounds like she is saying daddy but there is a difference. I have been playing slideshows of pictures of her, she likes to push the next button. She pats her chest and says, "ideda". Yes, ideda, my ideda! … [Read more...]

Say Your Please and Thankyous

March 16, 2009 By LaVonne

We had our good friend, Wendi, come and visit us this weekend. It is always so nice to catch up with old friends. We had good times. While she was here, she brought Isabella a nice gift - a horsey on a stick to ride on. If you push its ear it will neigh. Isabella loved it! Last night, Wendi had some popcorn. Popcorn is of course one of Isabella's favorite foods. So she wanted to share it with Auntie Wendi. Wendi, mom of 2, made Isabella sign please before giving her a piece, which to our … [Read more...]

It’s Not a Tumor

March 12, 2009 By LaVonne

I am channeling my best Arnold Schwartzenegger from Kindergarten Cop. (He is my governor and I had to google how to spell that last name.) Well, I have two things to share. The first is this: WE HAVE ANTS. And I hate bugs. So, I am doing some research on how to get rid of them by more natural methods. Pinching them one by one is not working very well. When my husband was a boy, he woke up, with terrible pain in his ear. There was also a very loud noise that would not go away. When his ear was … [Read more...]
