During lunch, for the first time, my Princess used baby sign language to sign the word "thank you" without being asked to. She wanted one of my chips so I gave her a piece of the chip and she signed thank you. I was so happy and praised her abundantly. I am so glad she can communicate more easily now. Sign language has helped us. Do you use Baby Sign Language? The mirror has become an attraction for my little girl as well. Today, she looked at herself in our full-length mirror said her … [Read more...]
Toddler Discipline
I recently wrote a post about time outs with my toddler. I wanted to expand on that theme a bit by discussing toddler discipline. My 15 month old daughter is truly pushing her limits and as a result my limits have been stretched. I am trying not to lose patience but to be honest, sometimes that is difficult. I keep praying though and trying to be consistent. I also try not to laugh when things get so bad it is funny. Once I laugh I know I have lost her. She just keeps it up (fill in the … [Read more...]
Shushed By a Toddler
Tonight, Daddy came into the bedroom and said "Hi" somewhat happily and loudly to Isabella. She proceeded to put her index finger up to her lips and say "shush". He laughed and laughed. She just learned this yesterday and did it all day to me. She thinks it is funny. I do too. At least for now.(How in the world do you spell shush?!?) … [Read more...]
New Shoes are ALWAYS Fun for Girls!
I went to a huge consignment sale on Friday at the Sacramento Convention Center. I purchased many great items (and spent no more than $6 per item) that were in like new condition. This pair of shoes was one fun find ($3) that my Princess can wear this summer. She is so cute! She tries so hard to put her shoes on by herself and she is now saying the word shoes. (Every new word is exciting in our home.)Consignment sales are a great way to get items for much cheaper than buying new and usually the … [Read more...]
I’m A Big Girl Now
My princess' new thing is not wanting to be buckled in her high chair during meals. She protests quite loudly when we try to put her in. If, by some chance, we do get her in without protest, she doesn't last too long. After a couple days of this behavior, I realized her problem. She wants to sit in the chair instead. Tonight, once I finally broke down and let her sit in a grown up chair she was happy, and continued eating her vegetable and tofu stir fry. Does 15 months seem young to be wanting … [Read more...]
Child Labor Works For Me!
Child labor works for me. I know, that sounds terrible. So let me explain. Isabella helped mommy make the bed. She did her part by adding the decorative pillows. Then she helped carry the hamper of laundry to the wash machine and helped put it in the washer and dryer. I give her all the light items that are easy to load like socks and underwear. My Princess then proceeded to help unload the dishwasher. Her own dishes go in a separate drawer and she is quite happy to be responsible for putting … [Read more...]
Stuck At The Park
Well, I did get a couple more things tonight at the $5 baby sale at Old Navy. I didn't realize when I went on Friday that it was ALL the baby clothes up to 24 months. So I got a couple more dresses and a pair of leggings that will match both. $5 for brand new clothes is a good deal for this mommy. We went down to the BIG CITY because my husband was starring in a commercial. Yes he is a big star now. Well, it is for a local channel - 27 - which airs 3ABN (Three Angels Broadcasting Network). It is … [Read more...]
