April 14, 2014 By LaVonne

Things to Do on a Puerto Rico Vacation

This post brought to you by Puerto Rico, The All-Star Island. All opinions are 100% mine. Have I mentioned here on the blog that my great grandfather was full Puerto Rican? He left Puerto Rico at about the age of 12 by jumping on a ship. Somehow he ended up on the Lummi Indian Reservation in Bellingham, Washington and was adopted my the Native Americans after he married a Native woman. It has been my dream for a long time to visit Puerto Rico. My mother just visited it for the first time … [Read more...]

It’s Hands Free Traveling For Me

Its Hands-Free Traveling For Me!

Do you all remember the fanny pack? Both of my parents wore a fanny pack when I was a kid. They seemed like nerds to me. But it was the "style" for parents to wear them. Now that I'm a parent, I can see the benefit of wearing a pouch at your waist, hip or fanny to store your things. I mean, these kids are CRAZY! I need both hands to handle them when we are traveling! Hands free traveling is important to me. Praise the Lord for the Hipzbag. I wear it daily. Ask my husband. He'll tell you. I … [Read more...]

We Bought a 5th Wheel Travel Trailer!

February 28, 2014 By LaVonne

RV Life After One Month

We bought a 5th wheel travel trailer! My husband has a new job. We won't be traveling across North American any longer. We will now be only traveling around Washington state in our RV. We are now RV people! I am excited and also nervous. Thirty-two feet of RV space can feel pretty small with two young kids, right? We are in the process of cleaning, stocking, and organizing our RV space. Thankfully, I have a new Dyson handheld vacuum cleaner to help me. {I LOVE our Dyson!} Did you know … [Read more...]

Chuck E Cheese Family Fun in Baton Rouge

February 19, 2014 By LaVonne

family fun

While in Baton Rouge we visited the local Chuck E. Cheese. With the yucky Polar Vortex weather we were experiencing, even as far south as Baton Rouge, indoor family fun was a must. Chuck E Cheese provided such a great family fun experience for us. My daughter kept seeing the commercials on the hotel television for the RIP IT. SIP IT. WIN IT contest and could not wait to visit and try to win a Disney Cruise. We didn't win but we did get 40 more tickets to spend on prizes at the local … [Read more...]

Family Game Night on the Road

February 9, 2014 By LaVonne

When we travel to other states we generally fly and rent a vehicle. The travel time is greatly reduced from Seattle and it is much easier with two young kids. I mean, really, who loves traveling in a van for a few days with young children? Not me, that's for sure. But the downside to that kind of travel is we are limited to our suitcases. For this trip to Baton Rouge we brought 3 large suitcases and 1 garment bag. We have mastered the art of packing light. Besides about 6 outfits each, we … [Read more...]
