Bluebonnet Swamp and Nature Center

February 6, 2014 By LaVonne

We have been battling some cold Polar Vortex weather here in Baton Rouge. We thought that when we came here for hubby's work we'd be in the 60s and 70s every day. Wow! This winter has been crazy, hasn't it? We are taking advantage of all the sunny days and going outside. On our must see list was the Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center. Affordable admission rates and educational activities made visiting this attraction well worth it.     The kids enjoyed the walk, the animals, … [Read more...]

Save on Time and Healthcare Costs for Traveling Moms

February 4, 2014 By LaVonne

I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for #CollectiveBias and Walgreens #HealthCareClinic. How can I not protect these little cutie pies while we are traveling on the road? I know I am biased, but look at them they are perfect. {You'd never guess how ornery they could be by looking at their sweet faces...} Since we started traveling for my husband's job in 2010 with our first child and now … [Read more...]

Winter Travel in Baton Rouge: What To Do

January 28, 2014 By LaVonne

This post brought to you by Enterprise Rent-A-Car. All opinions are 100% mine. Can you believe this winter we are having? We are in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and packed for great weather. Normally, 60s and low 70s are the norm here this time of year. But, all this crazy winter weather has created a shutdown of the city not once but twice. Here are 5 things we'd like to do in Baton Rouge while we are here: Louisiana's Old State Capitol {including the Old Governor's … [Read more...]

A Baton Rouge Park with Our Chicco Liteway Stroller

January 23, 2014 By LaVonne

We have made it safely to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It was a rough travel day with two sick kids but I made it and stayed fairly sane in the process. You'd think we'd have this travel stuff down, but it is still hard. Every. Single. Time. {Praise the Lord for a playground at the airport in Dallas!} And thank the Lord, that our Chicco Liteway Stroller arrived in time for our trip to Louisiana. We love our larger stroller but for traveling it can be a nuisance. A great quality umbrella stroller … [Read more...]

Marriott Destinations: San Diego Whale Watching

December 23, 2013 By LaVonne

Each year, at least once a year, we visit the San Diego area. You see, my husband's sister lives just 30 minutes north of San Diego. We love the area - the weather is amazing and she only lives a couple miles from the Pacific Ocean. There are so many Marriott destinations we could visit, but since we travel so much for my husband's work, visiting family in San Diego really is a great travel destination for us. Have you been to the San Diego area? What are your must see places near there? I … [Read more...]

cwist Kids Challenge: Travel Activities

December 16, 2013 By LaVonne

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for CWIST. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating. How do you get your kids to do things? Do you use positive reinforcement with them? I was pretty excited to see a new website that offers kids challenges with a twist. This is a great way to get kids to do some pretty great things. About CWIST cwist - kids’ challenges with a twist - is a parent-educator collaboration that provides an interactive … [Read more...]

Daddy Daughter Vacation to California

December 13, 2013 By LaVonne

This last week my husband took my daughter on a trip to California for four nights. He went to visit his sister in the San Diego area and to celebrate their birthdays. You see, my daughter and husband have birthdays this month. You have no idea how excited my Princess was to be able to go on a trip just with Daddy. Did your older child have trouble transitioning to a two child home? My Princess loves her brother and is really good to him. But she does share her feelings with us - her parents - … [Read more...]
