Ocean Themed Lessons and Activities

March 13, 2014 By LaVonne

In our Social Studies class we learned a little about Oceans. My Princess loves Math but disliked Social Studies. This quarter we are doing Science, which is her new favorite class. Thankfully, I have the internet (a homeschooler's best friend!) to help find fun ways to learn about the Ocean. 10 Ocean Themed Lessons and Activities: Homeschool Share has compiled ocean themed lessons by level. There is also printables, games and library list. Disney's Finding Nemo offers games, … [Read more...]

I have told you before about my daughter's love of the How To Train Your Dragon movies and television show. In fact, she still talks about when we had the opportunity to see How to Train Your Dragon Live. So when the chance to review the next installment of the How To Train Your Dragon television series became available, I knew I could not pass it up. The Year of the Dragon DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon are in for a treat this year. Twentieth Century Fox Home … [Read more...]

My Daughter Loves Canada

February 20, 2014 By LaVonne

We have traveled many times to British Columbia. We live only an hour from the border. My daughter LOVES Canada. Do you know why? She loves a kids television station up there called Tree House. And this station plays a cartoon that is up there in her top ten favorites: Toopy and Binoo. Have you heard of Toopy and Binoo? Toopy and Binoo™ is an animated series that follows the adventures of Toopy, a tall, funny and friendly mouse, and his best friend Binoo, a tiny, clever and lovable white … [Read more...]

We Got Rid of Cable Television

friendship adventures

We made it back home from Baton Rouge this weekend. Whew! What a long travel day for us. We had a layover in Dallas for a couple hours. Thankfully, the DFW airport is very kid-friendly. But that four hour flight from Dallas with a 20 month old? MISERABLE. After the flight ended the folks around us commented on how well he did. Yes, but we had to work hard to keep him happy. After 9.5 hours of travel my husband and I were exhausted. {And we still live 1.5 hours from Sea-Tac Airport!} We came … [Read more...]

December 12, 2013 By LaVonne

Both of my kids love PBS cartoons. In fact, Sid the Science Kid is one of my Kindergartner's favorites to watch. So when NCircle Entertainment asked if I'd like to review Sid's Pet Project on DVD, I knew that this DVD would make a great stocking stuffer for my Princess. About Sid the Science Kid: Sid's Pet Project Get ready for a fun weekend with Sid as he babysits Grandma’s dog, Philbert, for the weekend! Sid hopes to show his parents that he’s ready to take care of his own puppy. However, … [Read more...]

Mama’s Family Season 1 and 2 DVD Giveaway

October 20, 2013 By LaVonne

Thank you to StarVista Entertainment TimeLife for sponsoring today's post. I can remember watching television with my mother at a young age. One show she enjoyed watching, that I watched with her was MAMA'S FAMILY. 80s sitcoms were a lot different from the sitcoms of today, weren't they? I loved sitting on the family couch and watching this one with my own MAMA. Now you can watch the entire first and second season of MAMA'S FAMILY on DVD! Move over, Simpsons and Bundys! Sorry, Bluths and … [Read more...]

Advice for Parents of Kindergartners

September 20, 2013 By LaVonne

Thank you FHE Insiders for sponsoring today's post.   I am homeschooling, so I don't understand what it feels like for parents to send their kids off to school at the age of 5 or 6 for the first time. I can't imagine actually. The thought of sending my daughter to school all day honestly terrifies me. Is that strange? I am that overprotective mother who'd rather shelter her child. We homeschool because of our travleing lifestyle, but even if we weren't traveling I'd still homeschool these … [Read more...]
