Advice for Parents of Kindergartners

September 20, 2013 By LaVonne

Spread the love

Thank you FHE Insiders for sponsoring today’s post. kindergarteners   I am homeschooling, so I don’t understand what it feels like for parents to send their kids off to school at the age of 5 or 6 for the first time. I can’t imagine actually. The thought of sending my daughter to school all day honestly terrifies me. Is that strange? I am that overprotective mother who’d rather shelter her child. We homeschool because of our travleing lifestyle, but even if we weren’t traveling I’d still homeschool these younger elementary grades. I think.

Do you have advice for other parents of kindergartners?

What would you go back and tell yourself then based on what you know now?

modern family In Season 4 of Modern Family, Haley went off to college and Lily had her first day of Kindergarten. These are two big steps that are often very hard for parents to handle. Here is some advice for all of those modern parents out there who are going through these transitional stages with their families:

  • Set Guidelines (remind your kids of right and wrong)
  • Prepare Your Little Ones (learn at home with educational play and also social interaction)
  • Communication is Key (listen to your children)
  • Distract Yourself (plan a fun “me” day after you drop the kids off at school)
  • Show You Care (share their excitement and celebrate with them)

About Modern Family Season 4

The laughs – and the awards – just keep on coming for the #1-rated “Modern Family,” winner of three consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series! With Jay and Gloria’s baby on the way and Haley going off to college, the entire Pritchett/Dunphy clan faces some major surprises as they bicker and bond over house-flipping headaches, unwanted play dates, and everything from hot-tempered hormones to in utero karaoke. Featuring a stellar array of guest stars including Matthew Broderick, Shelley Long and Elizabeth Banks, Season Four takes a heartfelt and laugh-out-lough hilarious look at what it means to be a “Modern Family.”

I don’t have advice, I have four children and I was STILL apprehensive sending the youngest. They seem so little to be off and about all day long at that age.
