They are only this young for such a short amount of time. I keep reminding myself of this. Every.single.night. Because they both have a hard time sleeping in their own beds. Both of them. When my husband is gone, there is only one of me, and two of them. I'm outnumbered! This past week, my husband was gone, and of course, they outnumbered me. I might be crazy due to sleep deprivation. That's totally a thing right? I know it is. As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you. – … [Read more...]
Parents, How Do You Deal with Summer Bedtime?
I participated in this sponsored campaign on behalf of Firefly, REACH, and One2One Network. All opinions stated are my own. This is Nate's last week of preschool. Isabella is already out of school. It's hard to believe summer break is upon us. Here in Western Washington we deal with long days -- the sun goes down after 9 pm. The kids, of course, love it. It's harder on mom and dad though. {My kids are 8 and 4.} During the school year, we have a pretty strict bedtime with both kids. … [Read more...]
I’m Going to Miss Nap Time
My son will be 4 in two months. That amazes me because the time has flown by so quickly. I'll let you in on a secret: everyday, I still lay him down for a nap. Just like I've done the last 3+ years. In fact, as I'm writing this blog post he is leaning against my right side and arm, sleeping peacefully. We're snuggled under the comforter on my bed and it's warm enough to fall asleep with him. I'm going to miss nap time when he outgrows this stage. He naps for about an hour each day now. He has … [Read more...]
Moms, do you need more sleep?
This post was sponsored by Nature Made® as a part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I've been sleeping on the bottom bunk twin mattress in my kids room this past week. My son, who is 3, hasn't been able to stay in bed all night and I don't like sleeping next to him. (He's a bed hog and a heater and I don't sleep well with him in bed with me.) So, I let him climb in bed with my husband and I zombie walk to his bed at 2:30 am and to get more sleep. The last two nights, … [Read more...]
How many hours of sleep do you need?
We all know how important self-care is (and, if you've got a family, the importance of caring for others). But in the frenetic rush to get everything done, it's easy to forget that proper sleep is absolutely crucial to good health. [Tweet "Proper sleep is absolutely crucial to good health."] But what, exactly, is "proper sleep"? Nearly everyone's been asked at some point if they're getting enough sleep. And the National Sleep Foundation recommends seven to nine hours for most adults. And … [Read more...]
Suffering from Sleeping Issues? Here’s What I’m Doing
I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for the National Sleep Foundation. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation. As a mom to two younger kids and an at-home job as a blogger, I honestly suffer from sleeping issues. Work-at-home moms and I suppose outside the home moms all suffer from the guilt of not spending enough time with kids. Now that my son is in school part time I have been working those three hours in the morning. Then, … [Read more...]
11 Baby Sleep Tips: How to Get Your Child To Sleep
Who am I kidding, I have no idea how to get your child to sleep. I mean, for 4 and half years we have been struggling with our Princess to get her to sleep well. And then, BAM, this week she now is sleeping alone, in her own bed, in her own bedroom! We are amazed. Truly. We didn't do anything different. One night last week, I said, ENOUGH. We can't all be in the same room. My Little Man is in our room in a co-sleeper so I put my Princess in her bedroom and told her she needed to be a big … [Read more...]
