Passing Down the Importance of Faith and Sobriety

This post brought to you by New York Life. All opinions are 100% mine. The Keep Good Going Life Lessons New York Life has started the Keep Good Going campaign. These are little nuggets of wisdom and insight that are passed down in the family. Passing these things on, in big or small ways, is important for families and can positively shape lives. The My Grandfather video tells the story of a grandson connecting with his roots through his grandfather's influence. In what ways does your … [Read more...]

When Things Are Out of My Control

February 1, 2014 By LaVonne

The winter weather really affected our seminar attendance with the local church here in Baton Rouge. Attendance hasn't been as high as it was a week ago. Or as high as it normally is. It is frustrating. You can't control it but you want people to meet Jesus and have a life changing experience. That's a noble desire, right? My children are driving me crazy. My son's hitting had become almost non-existent (praise The Lord!) but now he is screaming - a lot! Screaming is in my top five things … [Read more...]

Update: Our Goal to Read More Books

January 27, 2014 By LaVonne

We made a goal this year to read more books to our children. I am happy to announce that we have been keeping our goal. Both of our children love books and that makes my husband and I very happy. We brought my Princess books for Homeschool Kindergarten Reading Class and she is doing really well. I love seeing her read the words and sound out words that are difficult. Reading is so great! It opens a whole new world for kids {and adults!}. Since we've been in Baton Rouge, we joined the … [Read more...]

My Toddler is Hitting!

January 2, 2014 By LaVonne

My sweet baby boy is a bully. He is only 19 months old but he makes his 6 year old sister cry at least once a day. He is hitting her and scratching her pretty often. And she is scared of him now. Have you dealt with a rough, bully of a boy before? Is your toddler hitting everyone in the family? It is so foreign for us. Our daughter has always been sweet and gentle too. Many times our toddler is hitting out of frustration. He can't communicate well. I get that. But, hitting and scratching? No … [Read more...]

December 16, 2013 By LaVonne

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for CWIST. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating. How do you get your kids to do things? Do you use positive reinforcement with them? I was pretty excited to see a new website that offers kids challenges with a twist. This is a great way to get kids to do some pretty great things. About CWIST cwist - kids’ challenges with a twist - is a parent-educator collaboration that provides an interactive … [Read more...]

Family Christmas Movie Night

December 5, 2013 By LaVonne

This week, we had a family movie night. To make our family night even more special we bought ice-cream, whipped cream, hot fudge, and maraschino cherries for dessert. I pulled out two holiday movie collections to have a special family Christmas movie night, The DreamWorks Holiday Collection and the Original Christmas Classics. Can you guess which set my Princess picked out? Yep. She choose The DreamWorks Holiday Collection. And yes, we watched all four animated films and we LOVED them. About … [Read more...]

November 30, 2013 By LaVonne

While we were in Denver this month, we visited the Denver Downtown Aquarium. Family travel might be business related, but we always like to have fun.
