Difficult Week

May 17, 2010 By LaVonne

This last week has been a difficult week. Not only did I learn my friend died, but I also found out our family friend has chosen to quit taking her medicine and dialysis. She is only 22 years old and has had kidney problems her entire life. Her father gave her one of his kidneys when she was a small child. They lived next door to us. My parents are her godparents in fact. One year ago, she decided she was tired of her life, being unhealthy, having constant medicine and dialysis. She didn't want … [Read more...]

Sick Princess: Our Experience at Urgent Care

March 31, 2010 By LaVonne

Two nights ago, our Princess had a fever. She has not been sick very many times in her life, so we were worried, but realized that a fever was common in a child. Her best friends here, (I have not told you about her best friends have I? Another post to come.), were sick over the weekend with a fever as well. So I knew it was something they all caught at church. Yesterday afternoon, the fever spiked, despite Ibuprofen, to 103.4 degrees. My husband decided to go online and get some information. … [Read more...]

Times They Are A Changin’

March 16, 2010 By LaVonne

Are there any other moms out there who are afraid of the world we are living in? When I read stories about girls getting killed while jogging, it just breaks my heart. But it also makes me more adamant about keeping my own daughter safe. Many might think I am being overprotective but I don't let people watch her (besides immediate family). I feel like you just don't know people these days. You might think you know them, but you don't. Also, when we are at church I always keep her in my sight. As … [Read more...]

Top Ten Tuesday: The Princess and Me

March 9, 2010 By LaVonne

Here are 5 favorite sayings from my Princess this week:As we are coloring an Elmo Goes Potty coloring book, she grabs all her colored pencils and says, "Mine, All Mine." Where did she get that? When she bumped my chin with her big head she said, "Saw Me" instead of Sorry.Seeing her run to her new friend at church, hug her and say, "Mi See" as two words instead of one, "Missy"."Mama, Please". She using this a lot and over half the time, I am a sucker for it. When she keeps saying it over and … [Read more...]

A Child’s Prayer

March 7, 2010 By LaVonne

My Princess loves to pray. Here is a recent prayer we taught her in the last month. We use it when she is disobedient, which happens to be daily: "Dear Jesus, Help Me to Be a Good Girl. Amen" Then we always follow that with, "Dear Jesus, Help Mommy to be a loving, patient mommy." (Or sometimes we say daddy, if he is here with us.) She repeats every word after us. It is hard to stay upset at a toddler when she kneels down, folds her hands and says this prayer. It truly melts your … [Read more...]

The Week is Ending, Here is a Quick Update

January 16, 2010 By LaVonne

I am happy that all our rooms inside our new house are painted. I love my husband, who literally painted 95% of the house. I did help him prep the walls and took the Princess away during the painting time. Our home is beautiful and he really has become a professional painter. I need to upload more photos soon.Today, we scored on sales. Target started their 75% off toy sale. We spent a little under $100 but got LOTS of presents for birthdays and Christmas this year. Then, Old Navy started their … [Read more...]

No Heat

December 4, 2009 By LaVonne

So it was one of those days yesterday, you know the kind - where everything seems to go wrong. We arrived home in the evening, knowing our propane tanks were getting low, we decided to check them. Sure enough, much to our dismay, we were at 2 percent on one tank and 10 percent on another. My amazingly wonderful husband called the propane company on Monday, since we knew it was getting low, and we found out that they serviced our area on Fridays only. Hoping to make it until Friday, we were very … [Read more...]
