9 Books on My List this Summer

Do you love reading? I do. I honestly love reading. There are some books that I just don't want to end. They become my friends. My life is not condusive to reading, unfortunately. Traveling in an RV for my husband's job, homeschooling my daughter, parenting a rambunctious (I trying to be nice with that word) two year old boy, and maintaining this blog DOES NOT give me much time to read. Praise the Lord for Audiobooks.com. Now, I can listen to my books. Someone else with a great voice can … [Read more...]

Printable Summer Reading Checklist for Kids

June 12, 2014 By LaVonne

This summer my Princess will still be finishing up Kindergarten homeschool. We have decided instead of giving her 2-3 months off in the Summer, we'll homeschool year round. In August we'll give her (and me) two weeks off before we start 1st grade. A Harvard Family Research Project in 2011 shows the importance of year round learning for kids. What do you think of year-round learning? I want her to keep learning through the summer and one way for us to do that is to have a Summer Reading List. … [Read more...]

Homeschool Kindergarten: Telling Time

Homeschool Kindergarten: Telling Time

This quarter in Kindergarten homeschool, my Princess is learning how to tell time. She loves it. We've learned about the short hand and long hand as well as the hours (1-12). We've proceeded to learn about 30 minutes after and 15 minutes after the hour. She LOVES it. In fact, math is her favorite subject right now. She taught herself how to count by 5s all on her own from 5-100. So now that she can count by 5s, telling time has become much simpler for her. Here is a round up of great … [Read more...]

Books Make the Best Gifts, Don't They?

This Easter are you giving your kids books in their basket? Books make the best gifts, don't they? My daughter is not fond of reading yet. We are just learning in Homeschool Kindergarten and she is doing great. But I have to make her read. Though she loves being read to, she hasn't fallen in love with reading. I really hope she does. I have always loved reading. What age did your kids learn to love reading? Disney Frozen has a few awesome books available for purchase that I think would make … [Read more...]

What is The Daniel Plan?

April 4, 2014 By LaVonne

Have you heard of The Daniel Plan: 40 Days to a Healthier Life yet? Though I was familiar with this book I didn't know much about how it came about and what was included in the book. As a Seventh-day Adventist Christian, healthy living is actually a pretty important part of my faith. I am very familiar with the story of Daniel in the Bible. Daniel and his three Hebrew friends, captives to the King of Babylon, refused to eat and drink from the King's table. They chose to eat vegetables and fruit … [Read more...]
