9 Hour Car Trip? Un-Bear-Able.

March 26, 2009 By LaVonne

Twice per year my husband takes his class to Yosemite National Park for a two night getaway. Therefore, a dilemma results. Do Isabella and I go on a 9 hour car trip for just 36 hours of Yosemite or do we stay home? Well, as I continue to watch the news and 48 Hours/Dateline style television shows, I am becoming a wuss about staying home alone. Especially since we do not have a dog to guard us. I wake with every bump in the night. So we went.God must have been busy that day, because he wasnt' … [Read more...]

There Ain’t No Monkeys In My Family Tree

March 18, 2009 By LaVonne

On Friday, we took Isabella to the Sacramento Zoo. We had not been there since she was about four months old. {On Fridays in March the zoo is half price, which is a great deal for us!} Plus, the Sacramento Zoo is only 14.5 acres - which is small. It only took us 1 hour to go through the entire zoo. Because it is so small they cannot have elephants, which we really wanted her to see. My Princess loves making elephant sounds. So, Isabella's favorite animals to look at that day were the … [Read more...]

Daddy Misses His Baby

February 6, 2009 By LaVonne

While we love the chance to visit family in Washington, we miss daddy. And of course, Daddy very much misses us. He has kept busy at work and has had plans every night so far since we have been gone. But still, he misses us. The students have been going to our house, which has been nice for him. They have been eating popcorn and smoothies and playing Taboo. Last night, he called while we were going to bed. Isabella heard her daddy's voice and was so happy. She wanted the phone and when he said … [Read more...]

Children’s Museum

February 5, 2009 By LaVonne

Today we went to the Children's Musuem of Skagit County located in the Cascade Mall. We had a lot of fun! They have a truck cab, animal farm, train set, model river, theatre room with dress up clothes, music room with fun instruments, art room with paint, crayons, paper, and playdoh, a farmer's market with deli, and much much more. Isabella's favorite area was the farmer's market. She loved all the play food, dishes, utensils, and eating area. We stayed there the longest. Of course, her other … [Read more...]

Washington

February 4, 2009 By LaVonne

Well, we arrived safely in Washington yesterday. I am starting to become quite spoiled riding in first class on Alaska Airlines. {My dad flew Isabella and I home for a last minute visit, and he flew us home first class.}I don't know what it is, I know you shouldn't, but you do, feel "better" about your whole self when you get to ride in FIRST CLASS.Plus, Isabella and I got the first row all to our selves. I was very worried about flying alone again, and I prayed and prayed that Isabella would be … [Read more...]

Very Thankful

November 29, 2008 By LaVonne

We are in Death Valley. I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for in our family. Wednesday we rented a car and drove from Tyler's mom's house out to Death Valley to stay at the Furnace Creek Inn for the Thanksgiving holiday. Tyler's dad has been coming out here for the last nine years and invited us to come along this time. Tyler's sister and her family also came out. We rented the fourth floor, which is the same floor Laura Bush stayed on when she was … [Read more...]

Sick and Tired

November 1, 2008 By LaVonne

Isabella and I flew back home by ourselves on Sunday. I don't look forward to flying alone with her again! We go back to Washington next month for a planned visit before Thanksgiving and we are flying alone again. Yeah (sarcastically)!!!Usually she sleeps on the airplane when we fly. This time I struggled with her for an hour. She was not happy and all she wanted to do was bother the man beside us - who was sleeping! But praise God, when we boarded the plane, there was a woman in 10F, our … [Read more...]
