Isabella and I flew back home by ourselves on Sunday. I don’t look forward to flying alone with her again! We go back to Washington next month for a planned visit before Thanksgiving and we are flying alone again. Yeah (sarcastically)!!!
Usually she sleeps on the airplane when we fly. This time I struggled with her for an hour. She was not happy and all she wanted to do was bother the man beside us – who was sleeping!
But praise God, when we boarded the plane, there was a woman in 10F, our seat. So we took her seat 9F. Well, no one sat next to us. We had two seats to move around in! (Only the young man on the aisle, who slept the whole flight.)
I gave Isabella anything I could to keep her happy – freeze dried strawberries, bananas, ice, water, cups, magazines, even Tings (our favorite junk food now)! I was able to keep her occupied for 1 hour and then the last 30 minutes she slept. We left Seattle in 50 degree weather and landed in Sacramento to 80 degree weather!
Then Sunday night, I got sick. Very sick. I went to NEWSTART Medical Clinic on Tuesday. Virus infection – take Elderberry, do fomentations and/or hot foot bath.
So, without Tyler’s help I couldn’t do fomentations so I did a foot bath. It helped. I woke up feeling much better but Isabella woke up sick! Boy, what a time we are having here with a sick baby! I can’t imagine having two or three, or four kids who are sick at the same time. This is hard!
Luckily, Isabella’s well baby check up was scheduled for Thursday. So we brought her in. Nothing they can do for her though, she just has to fight it off. She is healthy though, weighs 23lbs and is 29inches long. (In the 80th percentile, which is low for us, at one time she was off the charts, literally.)
So, yesterday Tyler started getting sick, which isn’t good because his seminar is still going on. Today he had Sabbath School, Sermon, potluck, and then a final seminar tonight. He slept in his own room last night, and Isabella actually slept very well. We skipped church and we are lounging around in our pjs.
Tyler’s seminar is going great! It is a small meeting. He opened with 38 visitors and last night he had a little over 20. 15 of those marked on their decision card that they want to join the Seventh-day Adventist church! God is good! He is really working in the seminar. So despite being sick and tired we are blessed.

Aww…You know, really, it isn’t three times worse with three. ๐ (Even though it sounds like it on my last blog there…) They usually take turns getting sick, for one thing. ๐
And as for having more than one: Well, it was rough for a few years there. But now the kids play with each other more and more, and it’s actually less work having two of them awake than one, much of the time. If I have only one, they want ME all the time, but if there are more of them, they play with each other. And they’re so much fun.
Most of the time.
Remember how, when you saw people with kids before you had your own, and how it looked like so much work and exasperation? But having a baby is so much fun. It’s the same with having another one. Multiply all the fun you’re having by two! (And really, the work isn’t twice as much, especially after the first year, when they are entertaining each other!)
Just a thought. ๐
