We are home from our unexpected trip to Southern California. You think I would be prepared for this trip since we travel so much. I mean, we had a 10 night camping trip this summer! But, no matter how well the Princess and I travel - it was miserable! I can't lie.Actually my Princess may have done better than I did. She slept a lot and watched her personal DVD player. I could not get comfortable; I could not sleep. We traveled in a 15 passenger van with uncomfortable seats and no headrests! So, … [Read more...]
Silverwood Theme Park
For our 11 year anniversary we decided to go to the Silverwood Theme Park and Boulder Beach Waterpark in Idaho. A six hour car ride became 8 hours, some of that misery of course. Thankfully, we had 8 episodes of Go, Diego, Go to give us a much needed break from a car ride with a 2 year old. Once we arrived though we had FUN! The first ride of the day? The biggest, scariest roller coaster of course -Aftershock. After that we spent most of the day letting that same 2 year old toddler go … [Read more...]
Vacation Home
The Long House. That is the name of our home. Yep, we've named it. It really is like a vacation in the summer and we love having our family here for visits. This week, we hosted my father-in-law. What fun long days we had with him, my sister in law and brother in law. We were able to visit the local Casino for a lunch buffet, see the Deception Pass bridge, Mt. Erie, walk downtown La Conner, take the ferry to Victoria, B.C (can you saw Tim Horton's Timbits?), walk through Pike Place Market, play … [Read more...]
Grandma’s Girl
We had the privilege of having my mother in law stay with us last week. And boy, what fun we had! We had so much fun. But now we are so tired. We did so many fun things. Often times when you live in an area you don’t do many tourist activities, but when family visits you want to show them the best. We do live in a beautiful place. Nothing beats the Pacific Northwest. … [Read more...]
Pen Pal
While we were out on the coast of Washington, at the NW most tip of the contiguous United States, we decided to throw a letter in a bottle out to sea. I know, it is not the most environmentally friendly thing to do, but my husband was so excited that one day our Princess could have a pen pal somewhere, that we did it.We joked that maybe it would just wash back on the shore of Neah Bay, Washington. But that would be okay too. My Princess was so excited as we got the letter ready, put it in the … [Read more...]
Cape Flattery
While we were out at Neah Bay, Washington we were able to visit the most NW tip of the contiguous United States– Cape Flattery. What a walk! Wait, first let me tell you about the weather. It is cold, foggy and windy. Always it seems. The hubster and I made a bet to see who could guess how low the temperature would go. I won! 53 degrees. In July. Crazy! But I was thankful on the walk up that is was not hot. The walk down (only 1/2 mile downhill) was lovely. Lots of stairs, tree stumps for … [Read more...]
Canoe Journey 2010: Extended Camping?
Extended camping with a toddler for ten days? Am I crazy? Okay, we have arrived at our destination on Monday – the Makah Indian Reservation. Whew! What a long week. I was definitely ready to be done camping. If you know me you will know that I am not a big camping kind of girl. A weekend camping trip is about all that I can handle, usually. So ten days of camping was getting old! But what a trip. You get such a sense of awe and humility when you watch all the canoes land with hundreds and … [Read more...]
