New Orleans

January 9, 2012 By LaVonne

We arrived safely this week to New Orleans. Our first stop in 2012. We have not been here before, so I am excited to have a city to explore and also to see lives changed by hearing the Gospel. Our flight was pretty easy. Other than my lower back hurting on the 5 hour (2 planes) flight, it was quite nice. The DirectTV on board made the time "fly" by. My Princess stayed very quiet and good with her new iPad. Only once, did she embarrass me, which is pretty good. She looked at the older (quite … [Read more...]

Record Earthquake in Oklahoma

November 6, 2011 By LaVonne

sourceImagine my surprise two nights ago when my the door to my bedroom started shaking. I thought my Princess was trying to get in. When I jumped up to open it, there was nothing on the other side.I found out the next day, it was a 4.8 earthquake. The second largest on record in Oklahoma. Wow!Then the following night, while watching the late night news, my husband and I felt the house shaking again. And yes, the doors were shaking as well. I said to him, "What is that?"He said, "Earthquake!" … [Read more...]

Are You a Human?

October 25, 2011 By LaVonne

As my Princess gets closer to four years old, it is funny to have conversations with her. She is learning well how to explaining herself, arguing her case, and just communicating more effectively. On our way to Oklahoma we had to take a smaller plane from Denver to Tulsa. The rows only had 2 seats on either side of the aisle. The Princess choose to sit by daddy, who can play games with her and not get airsick. (Plus, I am pregnant and even sicker!) A stranger, of course, sat next to me. To … [Read more...]

Deciding to Be Baptized

October 18, 2011 By LaVonne

sourceI realize that I did not give you all an update on our time in Montreal. {I was otherwise engaged in being very sick since I got pregnant while in Montreal!}What an exciting seminar for us in Montreal, Quebec.22 presentations translated into French.Young people worked each night as greeters, parking lot attendants, registration workers, ushers and as the film crew. Riding the Metro: Underground Montreal

September 29, 2011 By LaVonne

sourceNot as fun as my husband talked it up to be, but we did it. {It was just hot and humid so I think my opinion was a bit negative because of that.}We drove to the Metro station, bought 2 tickets and rode the subway downtown to visit the underground city in Montreal.sourceWith about 19 miles underground, we only visited the mall {which had 5 floors!} and ate at the food court. My Princess HAD to have Subway. {Yes, we rode the subway and she ate at Subway.} The hubster and I tried a bit more … [Read more...]

Visit Montreal–Biodome

September 22, 2011 By LaVonne

In 1976, Montreal hosted the Olympics. {I like to tease my husband how long ago that was, since he was born that year!} The Olympic Park is now a great place for tourists to visit. In the Olympic Park is the Biodome de Montreal. The Biodome features 5 Ecosystems of the Americas. Though expensive {it cost us $35 for two adults and one child}, and small – the Biodome was the perfect family fun day to have with a 3 year old. The Tropical Rainforest, our favorite ecosystem to visit, was humid, and … [Read more...]
