In 1976, Montreal hosted the Olympics. {I like to tease my husband how long ago that was, since he was born that year!} The Olympic Park is now a great place for tourists to visit.
In the Olympic Park is the Biodome de Montreal. The Biodome features 5 Ecosystems of the Americas. Though expensive {it cost us $35 for two adults and one child}, and small – the Biodome was the perfect family fun day to have with a 3 year old.
The Tropical Rainforest, our favorite ecosystem to visit, was humid, and richly beautiful. We loved seeing the various monkeys and tame birds that walked right up to you on the path. {With no flash photography, many of my indoor pictures were not the best quality.”}
Our favorite animal to see by no comparison were the Penguins in the Sub-Arctic Islands. Seeing the penguins swimming by, and walking like little old men was so a lot of fun for my Princess. One penguin in particular reminded us of Surf’s Up with his yellow hair on the sides of his head.
Though we did not purchase food {we packed our family lunch} there were many options with the café and cafeteria located just in the main entry lobby.
One last very fun thing to do was visit the Fossil house, located under the main floors near the lockers. The animals and fossils that you see are worth the extra time. A small reading nook, a few microscopes and educational information as well as animal tracks to follow to the correct matching animal – were all a delight to my 3 year old.
Though pricey, visiting the Biodome in Montreal is a must with children. We did not have time that afternoon, but the other things to see at the Olympic Park are worthwhile and hopefully we will be able to visit them before we leave:
The Olympic Tower
The Insectarium
Botanical Gardens
