How to Keep Your Marriage Alive When You Have Young Children

July 11, 2016 By LaVonne

Becoming a parent is one of the most amazing times in your life and I don't think that the feeling of raising children of your own could be any better, but being a parent can also be extremely draining. I mean, children require your constant attention and care and that can be a bit tiring for any person. Having babies will take over your personal and social life, but trust me it is all worth it. Sometimes unfortunately your kids take up all of your time and your marriage could suffer because … [Read more...]

Kung Fu Panda 3 Family Movie Night

July 6, 2016 By LaVonne

This past weekend, our family enjoyed a Kung Fu Panda 3 family movie night. We were sent some great branded items for our family movie night courtesy of Fox Home Insiders. I should have video taped the box being opened. My kids were over the moon happy. Since we are mainly vegetarian (some fish only) in our family, our family loves Asian food. Rice bowls, a vegetable steamer, bamboo place mats, and chopsticks are perfect for our vegetarian loving family. But the Kung Fu Panda cups, … [Read more...]

Little Monster Birthday Party for Nathanael

July 1, 2016 By LaVonne

This month my little monster, who I love with all my heart, Nate, celebrated his fourth birthday. We had a pool party for him and invited the cousins over for a fun Little Monster Birthday Party at our community pool. Since his big sister, Isabella, had a pool party, he wanted one too. We planned the pool party for 12 pm - 3 pm, but everyone ended up staying longer. It was a record breaking hot day in Western Washington and the pool was the perfect place to be. I found great Little … [Read more...]

Secret Indulgence I Don’t Want To Share with Hubby (But Will)

June 21, 2016 By LaVonne

After long summer days (did you know it gets dark at 9:30 pm + here in Western Washington in the summer?!), I can't wait until everyone is in bed. Do you know why? I've mentioned it before on the blog, but I'll tell you all again. I love indulging in sweet treats when everyone else is in bed. The kids have an early bedtime, hubby is a morning person, and I'm a night owl. Queue my new favorite sweet treat: Skinny Cow Vanilla Bean Dream ice cream sandwiches. ↓ What's your favorite secret … [Read more...]

Three Kitchen Savings Tips That I Actually Use

June 15, 2016 By LaVonne

Who doesn't love saving money in the kitchen? I know I love saving money any way I can. I have three simple ways I save in the kitchen. These are actual things I am currently doing. The great thing? They are all very easy ways to save too. Kitchen Savings Tip 1 So, I tried to cut costs by buying very cheap non-branded trash bags. You know what? They didn't work. At all. In fact, they ripped! So my first, very important tip is use Hefty. Hefty Ultra Strong to be exact. The price is still … [Read more...]

Raising Happy Children: Sheltering Kids from their Mistakes?

June 13, 2016 By LaVonne

a guest post from Rabbi Dr. Roger Herst   Nobody I know thinks that sheltering kids from their mistakes is a good idea. But ironically, parents who strongly affirm that children can only grow by learning not to make the same mistake twice, fall into a terrible trap. Ask yourself why they end up not practicing what they preach. First, it’s a matter of time management. To let kids fail and learn from the experience requires much parental time and patience. Time and patience most … [Read more...]
