During lunch, for the first time, my Princess used baby sign language to sign the word "thank you" without being asked to. She wanted one of my chips so I gave her a piece of the chip and she signed thank you. I was so happy and praised her abundantly. I am so glad she can communicate more easily now. Sign language has helped us. Do you use Baby Sign Language? The mirror has become an attraction for my little girl as well. Today, she looked at herself in our full-length mirror said her … [Read more...]
Toddler Discipline
I recently wrote a post about time outs with my toddler. I wanted to expand on that theme a bit by discussing toddler discipline. My 15 month old daughter is truly pushing her limits and as a result my limits have been stretched. I am trying not to lose patience but to be honest, sometimes that is difficult. I keep praying though and trying to be consistent. I also try not to laugh when things get so bad it is funny. Once I laugh I know I have lost her. She just keeps it up (fill in the … [Read more...]
Child Labor Works For Me!
Child labor works for me. I know, that sounds terrible. So let me explain. Isabella helped mommy make the bed. She did her part by adding the decorative pillows. Then she helped carry the hamper of laundry to the wash machine and helped put it in the washer and dryer. I give her all the light items that are easy to load like socks and underwear. My Princess then proceeded to help unload the dishwasher. Her own dishes go in a separate drawer and she is quite happy to be responsible for putting … [Read more...]
Time Out
Well, I am at my wits end. (I feel like an old person when I use that statement.) Isabella just does not listen not matter what I do. So today after telling her no about a million times with no results, I put her in a timeout. We have a playpen that she has never used as a playpen or anything resembling play or sleep for that matter. She hates being put into it in fact. So she had a timeout in the playpen. She cried like I had done the absolute worst thing ever. I let her stay in there for … [Read more...]
Say Your Please and Thankyous
We had our good friend, Wendi, come and visit us this weekend. It is always so nice to catch up with old friends. We had good times. While she was here, she brought Isabella a nice gift - a horsey on a stick to ride on. If you push its ear it will neigh. Isabella loved it! Last night, Wendi had some popcorn. Popcorn is of course one of Isabella's favorite foods. So she wanted to share it with Auntie Wendi. Wendi, mom of 2, made Isabella sign please before giving her a piece, which to our … [Read more...]
Safeway and Isabella Are Not Friends
So, we keep going grocery shopping with Isbabella. I don't know why. Do we love misery? Do we want to torture ourselves? Our princess hates to sit in the cart, and screams for everything on the shelf. I give her random things to play with, which she gets tired of and throws on the ground. I feel like everyone is looking at us, which they probably are not. After a while Tyler my wonderful husband decides to just take her and go play next door at Ross. I then hurry as fast as I can … [Read more...]
Toddler Snacks
Here are the things we love this week: Mommy loves: Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Cleaning Gel. I belong to BzzAgent and one of my recent campaigns included this Toilet Wand that dispenses the gel. It is like a toilet sticker, and I love stickers! It has lasted almost two weeks (it says it lasts about 1 week) and each time I flush the toilet a fresh scent of clean wafts up in the air. I have noticed that I don't have to clean the toilet as often but it does not do a great job at keeping it clean. If … [Read more...]
