I mentioned in my Homeschool week 2 post that we found a great book at the library: We love pipe cleaners! Fun, cheap, crafts are the best. Here are some of the creations we have come up with: Those are tulips, a carrot, a bee and a caterpillar, of course. (No, we didn’t say we were the most talented crafters, but we always have FUN!) We also went to Kohl’s this week and found a great Melissa & Doug craft – Decorate Your Own Piggybank on clearance for $3! It was well worth … [Read more...]
Preschool Homeschool Week 2
I have read many websites since I decided to homeschool my preschooler. The best advice I got was to utilize the library as much as possible.I found a great preschool curriculum pack online. I really wanted to buy it. But with a little extra time I realized I could find everything I needed at the local library and on the internet.I can get the fancy, more expensive curriculum later when she is older. And you know what? I don’t feel guilty about this decision. Because she is learning! We are … [Read more...]
Field Trip to the County Fair
This week is the big county fair and one of the churches we are working with here in Iowa has a booth under the grandstand. They are doing Health Screenings – blood pressure, BMI, and real age calculator. On Monday my husband worked at the booth. It was Veteran’s appreciation day so he even got in for free! Of course, the Princess and I took advantage of his work schedule and turned this outing into a field trip. I knew she would want to ride the amusement park rides, but I decided this was … [Read more...]

I found a great book at the library, … [Read more...]
Preschool Lesson Outline
I enjoy taking notes and making outlines. So when I decided to do preschool this year with my Princess, I first made an outline. I must admit once I made the outline and looked at resources online, I learned that homeschooling takes a lot of work. My daughter is only 2 years old so this is going to be pretty basic preschool homeschool. She is very interested in books and learning so I know she will enjoy this time together. These are the subjects I would like to teach my Preschool … [Read more...]
Works For Me Wednesday: Count With Me
My Princess loves to say, "3, 2, 5, 9, 8" in that order.ALL.THE.TIME.So imagine my surprise when we decided to really work on counting this week and she could count in order to 9? (Not 10 for some reason.) I began with 1 and instead of repeating the number she said 2, when I said 3, she said four, and so on until 9! She does know her numbers, she just loves creating her own order. Figures.Oh, and get this, she knows how to lock and unlock the door to our "house". Visit our travel blog for that … [Read more...]
The Week is Ending, Here is a Quick Update
I am happy that all our rooms inside our new house are painted. I love my husband, who literally painted 95% of the house. I did help him prep the walls and took the Princess away during the painting time. Our home is beautiful and he really has become a professional painter. I need to upload more photos soon.Today, we scored on sales. Target started their 75% off toy sale. We spent a little under $100 but got LOTS of presents for birthdays and Christmas this year. Then, Old Navy started their … [Read more...]
