I am saying that in my best Nemo voice of course.
We had a great first day of school. We even had a field trip!
We started with Prayer and the read one Bible story (Creation) in her Toddler Bible.
Next, we worked on Shapes. We focused on one shape today – Rectangle. That was the first shape in the book we used, Shapes at Home. We then went into different rooms finding a rectangle – the doors, drawers, and mirrors.
After we worked on shapes we did Colors. I found a great book at the library, Growing Colors, that we read through. I had her repeat each color. Then at the end I took out the colors of the rainbow from the crayon box and we had a “test”. She passed it easily. She knows each color when asked to pick it out.
Then, we worked on Numbers. I read Counting Kisses, a book I knew she loved. I love it too. It goes through numbers 1-10.
See those alphabet and numbers posters on the wall? I got them both for one dollar at the Dollar Tree! That was a score for me! We went through the numbers 3 times together. My Princess even traced the numbers with her finger. She can count pretty well, but there are times that she gets 5 and 9 mixed up. And she often forgets 8.
Lastly, we went through the alphabet song 3 times. We have not worked a lot on this song so I was surprised at how well she did. Her daddy was too. He came in ecstatic and clapping at her singing and memory.
Because of our “field trip” we could not do art today. Tomorrow. So the total time this morning was only 30 minutes. Not an hour like I hoped to do. But 30 minutes was actually a good amount of time for her attention level. (You know we used to joke that she was our ADD baby when she was in my tummy, she moved so much!)
I will write more about our fun field trip later. We did make it fun and educational.
First day of school? Great! A few times I had to get after her to concentrate and sit still but for the most part? She was a star pupil!
