During the seminar I am my husband’s secretary. When people write down their prayer requests and put them in the large prayer request basket, I am the one who types them up. We always have a prayer team that prays over each of them. But while I am typing them up, I am also praying for that person’s prayer request. I have said this many times before, but I need to keep reminding myself: people have a lot of real issues going on in their life, many are hanging just by a thread and when I am … [Read more...]
Sick Time
My family is sick. It affected me for a couple days, though not too badly. Today, my husband is really feeling it, and my daughter is slowly getting over it. At home, my father, mother and sister were all sick this past week. I am sure we picked it up from them before we left for Northern California. Not fun to travel and settle in a new house when we are feeling yucky. I was a nurse today. I shopped for groceries as quickly as I could today. We are stocked up. When we are traveling and only in … [Read more...]
40 Days of Prayer
I started a new book this week, 40 Days: Prayers and Devotions. In addition to learning more about prayer, the Holy Spirit and journaling, I am also praying for 5 specific people for each day. I had a hard time picking 5 people. I have 7 in mind, but I know there are more. We all know people in our lives that do not know Christ or who have fallen away from Him. It is heart breaking. I don't know about all of you but witnessing to those closest to me always seems to be the most difficult. A … [Read more...]
Prayer Requests
My husband provides seminars on the Bible that are open to anyone in the community. As we travel to six different cities a year, we get so many different kinds of people attending. It is really good for our family to interact with so many people of all ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and faiths. I am glad for this opportunity. But, I won't lie to you. There are days when being away from home, living out of a rubbermaid container, and not having access to all my favorite foods can be … [Read more...]
Devotional Time
I just absolutely loved my morning devotion today. Mind you, I didn't quite get to it right when I woke up. But such is the life of a mother. The verses to contemplate were:"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling." I Peter 4:8-9 (NIV)Romans 12:9-10, "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves." (NIV) … [Read more...]
Prayer Request
We are driving 20 hours starting tonight. When I say we, I don’t mean me. Family carpooling. Toddler traveling. 101 degrees on arrival. I must be crazy. My aunt is quite sick. Her heart is functioning at 10% right now and the doctor has said she does not have a lot of time left. Though we are sad, we are thankful that we have the opportunity to spend some quality time with her. I am thankful that she is a Christian. There is hope beyond the grave! So, as you read this, … [Read more...]
How to Be a Good Mommy
Good Mommy That is what I am striving to be. But most days, I need help. I freely admit it. I am convicted throughout the day about my lack of patience, my temper, my tone of voice. I want to be a good example to my daughter, Many days, life with a toddler - a two year old, can be exhausting, demanding, annoying, difficult... You name it and I have felt it. But, I want her to see Jesus in me no matter what. That is my biggest desire. But there are many days that I am rushing through my … [Read more...]
