Pumpkin Dump Cake Recipe

November 5, 2012 By LaVonne

pumpkin dump cake

We made another dump cake this week for church potluck. And by we, I mean, my Princess, who is 4, did most of the work. We like making dump cakes since they are simple and easy. Last week we made a peach dump cake and it was a hit. My mom makes a pumpkin dump cake similar to the one we made with only slight variations. Now that we made this pumpkin dump cake for church potluck, my Princess cannot wait to help Nana make it for Thanksgiving. It really turned out well, and tasted great. Everyone … [Read more...]

Life in Indiana

November 2, 2012 By LaVonne

life in indiana

We are enjoying life in Indiana this fall. Our Little Man just turned 5 months old and he has adjusted very nicely to the time zone difference. I am putting him to bed every night by 8pm and he is such a good little sleeper. {Thank the Lord.} He is in love with his hands and feet. He is always grabbing his feet trying in vain to get them in his mouth. Plus, he can watch his hands for long periods of time. He passes his teething rings from one hand to another over and over. It is so … [Read more...]

Family Travel to Indiana

travel to indiana

Let me just say, traveling with 2 kids is a bit more difficult than traveling with one. This is our first seminar with our Little Man. At four months of age, he didn't do too bad. I just forgot how you must constantly keep a baby occupied on an airplane so they are quiet. I got used to my Princess being such a good traveler. So when you travel to Indiana, a mommy just can't watch the movie and ignore the baby... All 3 in my family have a virus too! Yep, we are that family. You know the one: 2 … [Read more...]

Do More For No More – Ending Domestic Violence

October 7, 2012 By LaVonne

It's every parent's worst nightmare: finding out (or worse, not finding out) that their child has been a victim of physical or sexual abuse. These issues are uncomfortable to talk about and frightening to imagine, but they are happening. Studies show nearly 1 in 10 teenagers will experience physical violence from a dating partner and 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys will experience sexual abuse in childhood, more often than not, from someone they know. Our failure to talk about these issues, to … [Read more...]

My Baby Is 3 Months Old!

September 28, 2012 By LaVonne

Nathanael is 3 months old this month. It is amazing how fast time goes by. 3 months old is such a fun stage. This is when babies begin to laugh, hold their head up better, and grab things. We have been doing tummy time in the mornings when he is happy. He has rolled over a couple times. This is also the month that the drool begins to go into overdrive. I have purchased extra bibs so that his shirts don't get soaked through. I have also purchased teething toys that you can chill in … [Read more...]

How To: DIY Emergency Kit

Okay, I freely admit, our family is not prepared for an emergency. I want that to change.  I googled, read, and pinned many things about emergency preparedness and realize that it really is not that difficult. I just need to set aside time this week and write down our emergency plan and put together an emergency kit. Do you have an emergency plan or emergency kit? Here are a few great resources I'd like to share with you: Emergency Kit Visual Ideas and How To 72 hour Emergency … [Read more...]
