My husband provides seminars on the Bible that are open to anyone in the community. As we travel to six different cities a year, we get so many different kinds of people attending. It is really good for our family to interact with so many people of all ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and faiths. I am glad for this opportunity. But, I won't lie to you. There are days when being away from home, living out of a rubbermaid container, and not having access to all my favorite foods can be … [Read more...]
Devotional Time
I just absolutely loved my morning devotion today. Mind you, I didn't quite get to it right when I woke up. But such is the life of a mother. The verses to contemplate were:"Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling." I Peter 4:8-9 (NIV)Romans 12:9-10, "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves." (NIV) … [Read more...]
Funeral Moment
This week we had a funeral to attend for a family friend. He was an older man who had been sick for quite some time. A WWII vet (he was at Normandy and Battle of the Bulge), tribal leader, grandfather, and genuinely kind man. The funeral was truly a celebration of his great life. So when my Princess asked to pay her respects (she didn’t say that, she actually said, “I want to see the man who died.”) and view his body, I was hesitant. But I don’t want her to be afraid of something natural like … [Read more...]
State Fair Potty Break
We drove to the Northwest Washington State Fair this last week. For only $10 entry, it is a fun fair. My Princess loves the corn on the cob, I love the chocolate covered strawberries, and my husband loves the fried zucchini with ranch. (Yes I know, none of that sounds too healthy, but it is the fair!) We splurged on a ride pass for the Princess. Out of all the rides she rode, guess what her favorite one was? The glass house maze with funny mirrors upstairs. She went on it 5 times! It was … [Read more...]

Perfect Potato Salad Recipe
We have the honor of hosting my mother-in-law this week at our new home. This is the perfect week to visit us too. We just bought fresh Sockeye Salmon this morning. The fishermen brought it down from Canada and we got a deal - $12 for the entire salmon. We bought 2 at that price! {Friends of my grandfather bring them down for him.} Another perfect reason to visit us in Western Washington - our weather is BEAUTIFUL here in the Pacific Northwest. I don't know baout you but high 70s all week is … [Read more...]
Breakfast Prayer
As I placed scrambled eggs and toast in front of my Princess for breakfast, I forgot to say a prayer for her food. She was watching Veggie Tales on Netflix and I was going to sit in the dining room. As I sat down with my own plate at the table, I could hear her in the other room: "Heavenly Father, my food, mama's food. Amen." Such precious words that quickly pierced my heart. What a great little girl I have. I am blessed beyond measure. It is so easy to get caught up in the day to day … [Read more...]
