Speech Control

July 2, 2010 By LaVonne

My Princess is doing pretty well going #One on the potty. It is #Two that is not fun. Yesterday, she actually went, in her diaper, FOUR times! When that wipe hits her bottom, she whines, “Too Cold!”. To which, I reply, “Too Bad!” I know, I know, that is not very nice of me. But some days I am not very patient and understanding when it comes to poop. She has now learned to say, “Too Cold! Don’t say Too Bad, mommy!” Before I can even say my usual, “Too Bad”. She is so quick. This is not just … [Read more...]

Prayer For Mommy

May 30, 2010 By LaVonne

Breakfast Prayer

My silly Princess prayed the funniest prayer this weekend. We are trying to get her on her potty chair as much as possible now that we are home. But she still does not go poo poo on the toilet. I am getting TIRED of changing her and an often spoken exclamation while changing her is, "Oh Lord, help me!" So imagine my surprise when I started laying her down on the carpet to change her and she said, "Heav (she never says Heavenly, and the reason she says this is to copy her daddy) Father, help … [Read more...]

Difficult Week

May 17, 2010 By LaVonne

This last week has been a difficult week. Not only did I learn my friend died, but I also found out our family friend has chosen to quit taking her medicine and dialysis. She is only 22 years old and has had kidney problems her entire life. Her father gave her one of his kidneys when she was a small child. They lived next door to us. My parents are her godparents in fact. One year ago, she decided she was tired of her life, being unhealthy, having constant medicine and dialysis. She didn't want … [Read more...]

Potty Training Success

Our Potty Training Experience

Okay, something quite cool happened yesterday. Dum da da dum... (that is my drumroll) my Princess went Poo Poo on the potty! When she started to hide under the kitchen table we knew exactly what she was doing. Hiding to go poo poo. (Why in the world do kids do that? Just go on the toilet!) So we brought her into the bathroom, set her on the toilet seat, and waited. And waited. And guess what? She didn't go. I then did something drastic. It could have backfired (no pun intended). But I took … [Read more...]

Sick Princess: Our Experience at Urgent Care

March 31, 2010 By LaVonne

Two nights ago, our Princess had a fever. She has not been sick very many times in her life, so we were worried, but realized that a fever was common in a child. Her best friends here, (I have not told you about her best friends have I? Another post to come.), were sick over the weekend with a fever as well. So I knew it was something they all caught at church. Yesterday afternoon, the fever spiked, despite Ibuprofen, to 103.4 degrees. My husband decided to go online and get some information. … [Read more...]

Baby This, Baby That

March 14, 2010 By LaVonne

My Princess LOVES small things. Last week, while shopping in a local Food Co-op, she saw the item of her dreams - a "baby" cart. That is what she calls it. "Baby Cart", over and over, and over again; I think I even hear it in my dreams. She pushes that baby cart around the store (we have been there twice now), and I get so nervous. As my husband happily walks along the aisles, I watch her so carefully. For some reason, my two year old has no idea about pushing carts into the other aisles with … [Read more...]

Together We Can!

March 8, 2010 By LaVonne

It truly is official - after 10+ years of marriage, I will gladly admit that we are a good match. Case in point: We don't gang up on the Princess together.Whatever do I mean?Well, there are days, many some days, where we are I am just going crazy. On those particular days my patient husband gently reminds me that she is only two. I need that. It is nice to almost go crazy, but have a husband who can put things in perspective and stay calm, and pull me from going over the edge. This is good for … [Read more...]
