Following Christ in Arkansas

March 17, 2013 By LaVonne

Following Christ

We have had two small seminars this year. Two small towns with two small crowds. When you are moving your family around, missing out on family events and cultivating friendships, having a small seminar can be difficult. I try not to think, "I am displacing my family for this?" But it is a frequent thought in my head. Shame faced a peek around hoping God understands my frustration. Then, I am reminded how my husband's life was changed and my life as well by The Message of an awesome God. {I am … [Read more...]

The Start of Our Family Day

March 30, 2012 By LaVonne

You all know we travel for my husband's work  8 months out of the year. Some days that can be very hard, but one thing that I love about this calling is the family time we get together. We wake up, or sleep in together and eat breakfast together. The last three weeks we have woken up to fresh juice. My husband loves juicing - and we love drinking it. He juices fruits and vegetables for us, making a large batch, that we can drink throughout the day. It is the best start for our family … [Read more...]

Real Christianity

March 3, 2012 By LaVonne

When you visit Amazon, you can find thousands of free Kindle books. I am thankful that many of these Kindle freebies are Christian books. I have added many of these Kindle books to my cell phone, so when I am sitting somewhere, I can easily open my Kindle app and read great books. You can also get an app for your computer, iPod, and more. This week I started a book, Buck Naked Faith, by Eric Sandras, that has resonated with me. I have been under conviction about my character flaws, and … [Read more...]

Stumbling Into Grace by Lisa Harper: A Book Review

August 12, 2011 By LaVonne

Stumbling Into Grace: Confessions of a Sometimes Spiritually Clumsy Woman by Lisa Harper is a diary/devotional book , and even possible women's Bible study book, about Lisa Harper's life. In this story of her faith, Lisa shares how her journey has at times been rocky. She has drawn encouragement from the life of Christ and the words found in the Bible. Often humorous and always memorable, the stories in Lisa Harper's book are wonderful for this "spiritually clumsy" woman too! The book is … [Read more...]

Rio: A Review of Christian Themes

July 16, 2011 By LaVonne

Rio will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on August 2. Have you seen this movie yet? I have not, but I cannot wait. I don't know what changes, but once you have a child, kids movies just seem to get better. Plus, you make better choices on what gets played in your home. This is why I am excited to get this opportunity. Fox Home Entertainment has asked me to review this movie, and also to share with you about the Christian themes that can be found in it. I am excited to work with Fox Home … [Read more...]

His Name Is Jesus

April 7, 2009 By LaVonne

Tonight my princess had my quarterly for church and she was flipping through it. She likes to pretend she is reading now. She handed it back to me and when I grabbed it she pointed at the man on the cover in the background and said Jesus, in her cute whisper voice. (It mostly sounds like a couple well placed S's, but I know what she is saying.) It melted my heart. I gave her a high five and said, "Yeah, good job. That is Jesus." And she was happy. I tried to get her to do it for daddy but she … [Read more...]

Late Night Blogging Part 2

February 14, 2009 By LaVonne

I am trying to catch up on my scrapbook. I have only finished through April of 2008. So tonight I worked on it for a little bit. Isabella had other plans though. She wanted to look at all the pages. She loves pictures, especially when she recognizes the people. Tonight she recognized Grandpa and Grandma from a page I did from March 2008 - their 30th anniversary page. So I told her that it was Grandpa and Grandma and she leaned down and kissed the picture of them holding her. How … [Read more...]
