When you visit Amazon, you can find thousands of free Kindle books. I am thankful that many of these Kindle freebies are Christian books. I have added many of these Kindle books to my cell phone, so when I am sitting somewhere, I can easily open my Kindle app and read great books. You can also get an app for your computer, iPod, and more.
This week I started a book, Buck Naked Faith, by Eric Sandras, that has resonated with me. I have been under conviction about my character flaws, and my waning relationship with Christ. You see it is easy to get caught up in the business of life. I am busy all the time. I can take time each day to do my morning Bible reading, and pray and totally miss the point of connecting with Christ in a real way.
This day and age, with social media, and texting we are not connecting with each other like we once did. Our communication has become superficial and shallow. As I am reading this book, I realize that my relationship with Christ has even started becoming this way.
Yes, I might go to church, talk to others about Christ, listen to Christian music, read the Bible, and teach my daughter her morning devotion, but if I am missing that REAL connection with Christ. It doesn’t matter all that much.
So I am thankful that I got this book for free. That I downloaded it to my phone, and I started reading it this week. I want a real connection with Christ. I want to be a real Christian not just someone going through the motions.
Even when it is hard, I don’t want to be comfortable in a “pretend faith”. I want to know Christ like I know my husband and I want Christ to know me and connect with me.
Don’t you want that too?
How do you keep yourself from just “going through the motions” in your Christian faith?

Beautiful post! I can relate to what you’ve said. This book sounds like a great way to reconnect with Jesus.
