November 14, 2012 By LaVonne

Each year as we get busy in the hustle and bustle of the Christmas holiday it is important to remember the real meaning of Christmas. We are teaching that to our children each year. In a world of media and consumerism that they live in, sharing real life lessons can be difficult. World Vision makes it easier to teach our children about true gift giving. About World Vision About the World Vision Gift Catalog This year instead of the normal gift you'd get for family and … [Read more...]

Christian Pumpkin Carving

October 30, 2012 By LaVonne

christian pumpkin carving

This week we visited the Stony Creek Farms Pumpkin Fall Festival in Noblesville, Indiana. What a fun time we had! A hay ride took us up to the pumpkin patch which was all among Christmas trees. We searched high and low and found the "perfect pumpkin" for carving. At home, daddy helped the Princess carve her pumpkin while Little Man watched with glee. We got the pumpkin carving idea from last week's post Alternatives to Halloween.   I think our Christian pumpkin carving turned … [Read more...]

Alternatives to Halloween

October 23, 2012 By LaVonne

Far from a post on why Halloween is "bad" or "wrong" for Christians, I simply want to share with you alternatives to Halloween that you can do with your children. This year Halloween falls on a seminar night for my family. We will be studying God's word that night. So I wanted to find some fun things I could do with my Princess as alternatives to Halloween, costumes, and trick or treating. source 1. Attend a Fall Festival - the local farm is having their 40th anniversary and hosting a Fall … [Read more...]

The Start of Our Family Day

March 30, 2012 By LaVonne

You all know we travel for my husband's work  8 months out of the year. Some days that can be very hard, but one thing that I love about this calling is the family time we get together. We wake up, or sleep in together and eat breakfast together. The last three weeks we have woken up to fresh juice. My husband loves juicing - and we love drinking it. He juices fruits and vegetables for us, making a large batch, that we can drink throughout the day. It is the best start for our family … [Read more...]

Fresh Bread Ministry

August 24, 2011 By LaVonne

The Fresh Bread Ministry is a simple ministry we have used when working with churches. It's a great way for them to get to know the people surrounding the church or even to visit those who haven't been to church in a while. This ministry has been a blessing to us, church members, and those who receive the bread. Fresh Bread Ministry How-To 1. Bake Bread {whole wheat recipe} 2. Write a short note and include a Bible verse like John 6: 33 3. Package it nicely in a basket, bag, or fabric 3. Bring … [Read more...]

My Favorite Thing About Easter

March 28, 2011 By LaVonne

easter

Easter is almost here. Are you excited? Are you ready? We have a break between seminars that allows us to be at home for the Easter holiday. I am very excited about that. When we are gone for 8+ months out of the year, we miss some holidays and birthdays.  That is one of the many reasons that a job on the road is difficult. But it is worth it for us. When we share the Gospel message with communities across the country, and lives are changed, it is worth it. Without the hope of the … [Read more...]
