A Brain Cancer Update (My Wish This Season)

This post brought to you by What’s your wish?. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Long Wait For Isabella. I realized that I haven't updated you all on how my sister-in-law, Melanie is doing. As many of you know, she found out she had terminal brain cancer 3 years ago. After a few brain surgeries and a year of chemotherapy, I am excited to say that the brain tumor is not growing back at this time. She still must go back in for an MRI every 3 months but right now things are … [Read more...]

Say No to Pretend Christianity

Say No to Pretend Christianity

We were talking about the Rich Young Rule in Matthew 19 at church recently which had me thinking about following Christ, obedience, full surrender, and pretend Christianity. Matthew 19:16-22 The Rich and the Kingdom of God 16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” 17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 “Which ones?” he … [Read more...]

The Hero Mom in My Life is Fighting Brain Cancer #MyHeroMom

My sister in law, Melanie, has just finished her 5th round of chemotherapy for her brain cancer. She is almost half-way done with chemo. Please, follow her story on Bucket List Family blog. She is a cancer fighter! With three young boys, 9 and under, she is truly a hero mom. I am proud of her strength and dignity as she goes through this journey with brain cancer. Melanie is trying to live life to the fullest while she is here with her young boys, thus the Bucket List Family began. They are … [Read more...]

Over the Edge for Brain Cancer

October 27, 2013 By LaVonne

Brain cancer has affected our family in a way that none of us could have predicted. When we got the call that my husband's sister had a seizure and a CAT SCAN showed a brain tumor, we were floored. I mean, this happened to other families sure, but not ours. My sister-in-law, had a husband and four children. She went to church and was a good person. We couldn't help but question God, and say "Why?" When they initially gave her only mere months to live (an uniformed nurse) we could barely contain … [Read more...]

Brain Cancer Update

May 17, 2013 By LaVonne

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of the American Cancer Society. For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while, you know that my sister in law has brain cancer. I wrote about our initial trip to Southern California when we heard the news, a brain tumor update and then I even nominated her for the Yahoo! Women Who Shine contest. (She was the runner up in her category! Thanks for voting for her.) So now it is time to let you know that after a few surguries, she … [Read more...]

Brain Cancer Clothing from CafePress (Review)

May 1, 2013 By LaVonne

Thank you CafePress for sponsoring today's post. Before I even had this chance to review CafePress, I already loved them. I recently ordered gifts on CafePress for family members through Amazon and was very pleased not only with the selection but also with the shipping and quality. There is so much variety on CafePress. You could easily look at the site for hours and have a cart load of items. I can honestly say it was difficult for me to narrow down my selection of items to … [Read more...]

Sharing the Good News in Indiana

October 14, 2012 By LaVonne

After 5 months of being home, the kids and I will accompany my husband to Indiana this week. We are all pretty excited about going to a great community in Indiana and sharing the good news of the gospel. That is what my husband does - gets invited to communities across North America to share the gospel with people who want to hear it. Lives are changed when people come out and study the Bible and people choose to be baptized. Simple as that. And it is such a blessing to our family to be a part … [Read more...]
