This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of the American Cancer Society.
For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while, you know that my sister in law has brain cancer. I wrote about our initial trip to Southern California when we heard the news, a brain tumor update and then I even nominated her for the Yahoo! Women Who Shine contest. (She was the runner up in her category! Thanks for voting for her.)
So now it is time to let you know that after a few surguries, she was able to get much of the tumor removed. She still has brain cancer and will never be cancer free. Her type of brain tumor will continue to grow unless God sends us a miracle. {We believe He is in the business of miracles and by faith we pray that it happens!} Her last MRI showed very slow growth which is good news. You can read her latest update on her family blog, Bucket List Family.
Please continue to pray for my sister in law Melanie and her fight against brain cancer.
Cancer has affected our family as I know it has affected most families in the United States. That is why I have chosen to support the American Cancer Society financially and this is also why I wanted to share this sponsored post with you all.
The American Cancer Society will be turning 100 years old on May 22, 2013! Wow! I didn’t even realize that this great organization has been around for that long. It all began when 15 physicians came together to say NO MORE. This organization has been fighting cancer and trying to find ways to end cancer ever since.
Due to their efforts, the American Cancer Society has saved many lives through education and early detection and many birthdays have been celebrated that would not have been. Since the early 1900s, the American Cancer Society has been a part of the decline of cancer death rates. They have also played a major role in advancements of every major cancer research breakthrough.
The goals that the American Cancer Society has are things I can get behind:
- continue to get funding for life saving research
- begin a historic research study with at least 300,000 adults that will help us understand how to prevent cancer and save lives
- make sure that those with cancer will be able to get the treatments they need with housing and rides available
- keep fighting for equal access to quality healthy care, life saving screenings, and clean air
Sixty years ago, 1 out of 3 people diagnosed with cancer survived.
Today, thanks in part to the work of the American Cancer Society, 2 out of 3 will survive.
Let’s make it 3 out of 3.
Join the American Cancer Society to help finish the fight.
