A Look Into Vaccinations: The Greater Good

October 21, 2012 By LaVonne

We have not yet vaccinated our children. I don't want to get into a debate on why we should on here. But I do want to say, we are thinking of getting a few vaccinations for our daughter now that she is 4 and playing with a larger number of children as we travel the country. We are not against vaccinations exactly, we just are not certain if some of them are necessary nor do we trust some of the ingredients contained in the vaccines. This is why I choose to review and giveaway The Greater Good … [Read more...]

Do More For No More – Ending Domestic Violence

October 7, 2012 By LaVonne

It's every parent's worst nightmare: finding out (or worse, not finding out) that their child has been a victim of physical or sexual abuse. These issues are uncomfortable to talk about and frightening to imagine, but they are happening. Studies show nearly 1 in 10 teenagers will experience physical violence from a dating partner and 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys will experience sexual abuse in childhood, more often than not, from someone they know. Our failure to talk about these issues, to … [Read more...]

Fight Breast Cancer

October 7, 2012 By LaVonne

When my mother in law was diagnosed with breast cancer our family was stunned. Of course, many families are not left untouched by cancer but to have a parent get cancer is not only unwelcome but also scary for children. When my mother-in-law lost her hair due to chemotherapy and radiation, my husband shaved his head right along with her. I am thankful to say that my mother in law is a breast cancer survivor. I am so proud of her and how she fought against the cancer in her body. We are thankful … [Read more...]

How to Get Fiber? You all know I am on a weight loss program. It is not a diet though. It really is a lifestyle. For it to work, it has to be a lifestyle. So forget about the latest diet and exercise trends. There is not way you can lose in simple 10 minutes a day exercises or what ever fad it out there right now. Getting healthy and staying healthy is not a fad -- it should be a lifestyle. Part of my weight loss program includes getting enough fiber. One way to add fiber to your diet is … [Read more...]

My Well Being

September 15, 2012 By LaVonne

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of My Well-Being Powered by Humana for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. What does well being mean to you? It is not just about health and wellness to me but even encompasses relationships and community. Traveling on the road with my husband's job is difficult to maintain strong relationships. We are not home consistently and the places we visit are just that - visits. So I am thankful that when I am home I live in a Native American … [Read more...]

Yahoo! Women Who Shine

September 14, 2012 By LaVonne

Meet my sister-in-law Melanie. I have known her for 13 years and I can honestly say we are friends - good friends. She is a wonderful wife and mother to four great children. Three are boys that are all under the age of 8. I have blogged about her before when we first got "The News". You see this last November, Melanie had a seizure in her bed early one morning. As a result, she had an MRI that showed a tumor in her brain. The news rocked our family to the core. About Yahoo! Women Who … [Read more...]
