Crying for Daddy

June 14, 2010 By LaVonne

London 2009I was shocked when my Princess was able to stay a whole night with Grandpa and Grandma. A little sad, but happy, VERY HAPPY. We picked Saturday night as the night for sleep overs. So, a couple Saturdays ago, when I started packing up my things to head home, I was surprised when at the last moment my Princess decided to come home with me.I asked her on the way home why she didn't want to stay with Papa and Nana, she said, "Daddy not home." She is so sweet; she did not want me to be … [Read more...]

Throwing Dog Poop?

June 9, 2010 By LaVonne

No problem! Or so the Princess thinks.Today, we went to a ladies softball game at a nearby park. As I sat on the bench, my eyes roamed from the ball field to where my Princess was playing with the other children, constantly. So imagine my surprise when one girl came to the benches and said, "The boys are throwing dog poop, and Bella too."Someone kindly left a bag of dog poo lying on the grass and the boys started throwing it. My Princess, thinking it was funny, and though it smelled BAD, started … [Read more...]

First Sleep Over

June 3, 2010 By LaVonne

The Princess with Grandpa and Grandma in May 2009Grandma and Grandpa had our Princess Saturday afternoon. She did NOT want mommy and daddy at all that day. So when it was time to come home we were not surprised that she wanted to stay with them. I was hesitant though, because I was tired, and I felt like she was going to cry for me at 11pm and I didn't want to be woken up.She has never stayed the night with the grandparents. She has not even slept a whole night in their bed when they slept over. … [Read more...]

My Kid Can Beat Up Your Kid

June 1, 2010 By LaVonne

For free!I don't know what has gotten into my sweet little Princess but she is starting to be a bully. She is tall for her age and she is pretty tough. She doesn't cry too often and seems to exhibit no fear. Lately, she has been picking on other kids and we are not sure why. Either she will bug them mercilessly, take their toys, get in their face, and yell "no" at them. Luckily, she has not resorted to hitting and pushing. I try to keep her in line and always make her say "sorry" and give hugs. … [Read more...]

Prayer For Mommy

May 30, 2010 By LaVonne

Breakfast Prayer

My silly Princess prayed the funniest prayer this weekend. We are trying to get her on her potty chair as much as possible now that we are home. But she still does not go poo poo on the toilet. I am getting TIRED of changing her and an often spoken exclamation while changing her is, "Oh Lord, help me!" So imagine my surprise when I started laying her down on the carpet to change her and she said, "Heav (she never says Heavenly, and the reason she says this is to copy her daddy) Father, help … [Read more...]

Difficult Week

May 17, 2010 By LaVonne

This last week has been a difficult week. Not only did I learn my friend died, but I also found out our family friend has chosen to quit taking her medicine and dialysis. She is only 22 years old and has had kidney problems her entire life. Her father gave her one of his kidneys when she was a small child. They lived next door to us. My parents are her godparents in fact. One year ago, she decided she was tired of her life, being unhealthy, having constant medicine and dialysis. She didn't want … [Read more...]

Death is not the end

May 17, 2010 By LaVonne

I lost a friend this last week. Her name was Melissa. She was 28 and suffered with health problems most of her life. She died in her sleep of pneumonia. Her mother found her in the morning. I was shocked though to say the least. The first week I met her we got along very well and she told me that I was one of her best friends. Melissa had a big heart and was always generous. She will be missed. On her facebook page under her interests she wrote, "Most importantly, I have a desire to reach out and … [Read more...]
