Preschool Homeschool Week 2

September 24, 2010 By LaVonne

I have read many websites since I decided to homeschool my preschooler. The best advice I got was to utilize the library as much as possible.I found a great preschool curriculum pack online. I really wanted to buy it. But with a little extra time I realized I could find everything I needed at the local library and on the internet.I can get the fancy, more expensive curriculum later when she is older. And you know what? I don’t feel guilty about this decision. Because she is learning! We are … [Read more...]

Eeeee, I am scared

September 19, 2010 By LaVonne

My Princess has started telling us when something is scaring her. She has never really been “scared” before but now things are becoming, “Eeeee!” This week, we rented some videos at the library including a Bible video about Moses. It was a video that I did not think she would like. The graphics were terrible, and she is used to much better graphics. She didn’t mind them though. In fact, she was really into it!But once the bad man started to say, “Kill the children” in an evil voice, she ran … [Read more...]

Field Trip to the County Fair

Field Trip to the County Fair

This week is the big county fair and one of the churches we are working with here in Iowa has a booth under the grandstand. They are doing Health Screenings – blood pressure, BMI, and real age calculator. On Monday my husband worked at the booth. It was Veteran’s appreciation day so he even got in for free! Of course, the Princess and I took advantage of his work schedule and turned this outing into a field trip. I knew she would want to ride the amusement park rides, but I decided this was … [Read more...]

First Day of School

September 15, 2010 By LaVonne

I am saying that in my best Nemo voice of course. We had a great first day of school. We even had a field trip! We started with Prayer and the read one Bible story (Creation) in her Toddler Bible.Next, we worked on Shapes. We focused on one shape today – Rectangle. That was the first shape in the book we used, Shapes at Home. We then went into different rooms finding a rectangle – the doors, drawers, and mirrors. After we worked on shapes we did Colors. I found a great book at the library, … [Read more...]

My Daughter is Kind of Swimming at 2!

September 14, 2010 By LaVonne

We have a pool here at our new apartment. We have gone every night since we arrived. The first night we blew up those little arm floaties, stuck them on the Princess and she jumped in without hesitation. After swimming around a little while, she started jumping in from the side! Her head would go all the way under. She held her breath very well. When she asked to take them off, we thought it might be because they were uncomfortable, but she really wanted to try jumping in without them. We … [Read more...]

Preschool Lesson Outline

preschool lesson outline

I enjoy taking notes and making outlines. So when I decided to do preschool this year with my Princess, I first made an outline. I must admit once I made the outline and looked at resources online, I learned that homeschooling takes a lot of work. My daughter is only 2 years old so this is going to be pretty basic preschool homeschool. She is very interested in books and learning so I know she will enjoy this time together. These are the subjects I would like to teach my Preschool … [Read more...]

Earlier Bedtime

September 8, 2010 By LaVonne

Since we came  back from a long trip, the Princess and I are exhausted. I would like the take advantage of that exhaustion to incorporate an earlier bedtime. This is a brilliant idea, I must admit. What time do your kids go to bed? I am a little ashamed to admit that we don't usually get the Princess into bed until at least 9pm. Sometimes later. She does sleep in until 8 or 9am each morning.I am a night person. I like staying up late. I like sleeping in. My poor sleeping habits … [Read more...]
