Positive Parenting with Preschoolers

April 4, 2016 By LaVonne

If there’s one age group of children that will give you a run for your money, it is preschoolers. They have a mind of their own, yet they don’t quite know how to communicate how they think and feel. I've had a hard month. I've really focused and controlled my own parenting behavior. I am committed to positive parenting -- for me that means no more spankings, yelling, and time-outs without explanation. My son calls me, "The New Mommy". I've made a couple mistakes, apologized and we've gotten over … [Read more...]

LEGO Friends is a BIG HIT with my Daughter!

March 31, 2016 By LaVonne

This month, Netflix launched a new favorite show: LEGO Friends. My eight year old daughter saw it on Netflix before I could even tell her about the new show. She was so excited, she has streamed all six episodes more than once. I don't know the characters like she does, so I really appreciated this handy cheat sheet from Little Pink Blog: Netflix sent us a fun Friends set this month and my daughter LOVED it. She put it together right when it arrived. I love how creative and smart she … [Read more...]

Disney Preschool Party: Mickey Mouse Party

March 30, 2016 By LaVonne

This last weekend we had a family party for Easter. I love getting together each Easter to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and also to visit with family we don't see often. The entire family, young and old, loved the Mickey Mouse preschool party idea. Who doesn't love Mickey? My preschooler loves Mickey Mouse and Disney Jr. and since Disney sent some great … [Read more...]

Get the Help in Marriage that you Need

March 29, 2016 By LaVonne

I have been married for almost 17 years. Today, I am thankful for a great marriage. When my husband and I were first married, we were young, and it was hard. We struggled those first few years. Marriage takes work. A lot of work. I'll admit that the key to our good marriage is our ability to communicate with each other. A good marriage doesn't just happen, we have to work at it.  We are making deliberate decisions daily to communicate and love. Once we learned that love is a verb and not a … [Read more...]
