Pee Pee in the Potty!

April 8, 2009 By LaVonne

Our Potty Training Experience

I have been discussing potty training with my husband and family for a little while now and to be honest I guess I have been a little lazy about it. I know my Princess is only 15 months old but I feel like there are times that she is acting in a way that she can go potty on the toilet. So this morning I woke up, played with her for a little while, started to change her diaper, and realized that if I needed to go, then maybe she did too. Duh, right? So we went into the bathroom and both went … [Read more...]

Lost and Found: Parenting at the Grocery Store

April 7, 2009 By LaVonne

Shopping at Wal-mart with Isabella can be miserable at times. Well, who I am kidding, it is miserable each time. When we finish and are checking out, I like to bring Isabella to an open lane (there is always open lanes there even when the lines are hugely long). Daddy gives the checker my 30+ coupons and makes sure they all scan, and I let Isabella get into things. On the lane they put things right within her reach that she loves - Disney Princess cell phones, Cars cameras, and Buzz Lightyear … [Read more...]

Low Temperature?

April 4, 2009 By LaVonne

So, this morning Isabella decided she did not want breakfast. There was nothing I could do. But when she started acting fussy while getting her dress on I decided to take her temperature. I have a quick ear one that I use and her temperature was low - very low I thought. I was 94.7. Ear temperatures are known to be unrealiable so I took it again and proceeded to take my own and daddy's. Ours was "normal", but hers still came out low.So that threw us into a small panic mode. Any strange thing … [Read more...]

Baby Sign Language

April 2, 2009 By LaVonne

baby sign language

During lunch, for the first time,  my Princess used baby sign language to sign the word "thank you" without being asked to. She wanted one of my chips so I gave her a piece of the chip and she signed thank you. I was so happy and praised her abundantly. I am so glad she can communicate more easily now. Sign language has helped us. Do you use Baby Sign Language? The mirror has become an attraction for my little girl as well. Today, she looked at herself in our full-length mirror said her … [Read more...]

Toddler Discipline

April 1, 2009 By LaVonne

I recently wrote a post about time outs with my toddler. I wanted to expand on that theme a bit by discussing toddler discipline.  My 15 month old daughter is truly pushing her limits and as a result my limits have been stretched. I am trying not to lose patience but to be honest, sometimes that is difficult. I keep praying though and trying to be consistent. I also try not to laugh when things get so bad it is funny. Once I laugh I know I have lost her. She just keeps it up (fill in the … [Read more...]

Child Labor Works For Me!

March 25, 2009 By LaVonne

Child labor works for me. I know, that sounds terrible. So let me explain. Isabella helped mommy make the bed. She did her part by adding the decorative pillows. Then she helped carry the hamper of laundry to the wash machine and helped put it in the washer and dryer. I give her all the light items that are easy to load like socks and underwear. My Princess then proceeded to help unload the dishwasher. Her own dishes go in a separate drawer and she is quite happy to be responsible for putting … [Read more...]
