7 Great Tips for Real Life

February 22, 2011 By LaVonne

7 Tips for a Great Life

During the seminar I am my husband’s secretary. When people write down their prayer requests and put them in the large prayer request basket, I am the one who types them up. We always have a prayer team that prays over each of them. But while I am typing them up, I am also praying for that person’s prayer request. I have said this many times before, but I need to keep reminding myself: people have a lot of real issues going on in their life, many are hanging just by a thread and when I am … [Read more...]

Traveling to Northern California

February 10, 2011 By LaVonne

March 2010We had such beautiful weather on our drive to Northern California on Wednesday. Seeing the ocean waves, sunshine, and blue skies out my van window just made me happy.Unfortunately, all three of us have been battling a cold this week. So there were some UN-fun times as well during our 11 hour drive. But we survived. Thank you to the person who invented portable DVD players. We left at 4am, and my wonderful husband drove the entire way. I could barely stay awake for the first four hours … [Read more...]

Trusting God

February 7, 2011 By LaVonne

sourceBad news. Our van was broken into this weekend. This weekend, a high weekend where people were baptized at church and made a commitment to God. (Of course, this is when it would happen.)They stole our Epson Projector that we use for our seminars. And my Nikon D50 dSLR camera that I received as a gift from my parents.I was bummed for about 30 minutes. I mean, really truly upset. Then, I realized that God is in control. I really need to trust Him.No one was hurt. Our van was … [Read more...]

Canada, eh?

January 17, 2011 By LaVonne

source We started our first seminar of the year this last week in British Columbia, Canada. And it snowed, then snowed some more, then rained. Hard. Our tires were sliding, but we stayed very safe, thanks to my careful and wonderful husband. (We even had to put our chains on at one point when it snowed.)You guys want to know something though? Visitors are still coming out to our seminar - to hear God's word. That is exciting! We have been averaging about 40 visitors and 30 church members each … [Read more...]

Blessing Cards

November 7, 2010 By LaVonne

During our travels we meet so many great people. We get to know them in the four or five weeks we are working with their church, and then we have to leave. I always say that we will have a grand reunion in Heaven one day with a lot of great people. During this seminar, our Princess has really connected with the two lovely ladies who are in charge of child care. They have fallen in love with the Princess and are so very patient and kind to her. Our Princess lovingly refers to them as “my new … [Read more...]

40 Days of Prayer

November 4, 2010 By LaVonne

40 Days of Prayer

I started a new book this week, 40 Days: Prayers and Devotions. In addition to learning more about prayer, the Holy Spirit and journaling, I am also praying for 5 specific people for each day. I had a hard time picking 5 people. I have 7 in mind, but I know there are more. We all know people in our lives that do not know Christ or who have fallen away from Him. It is heart breaking. I don't know about all of you but witnessing to those closest to me always seems to be the most difficult. A … [Read more...]

Goodbye Sioux City

October 25, 2010 By LaVonne

sourceWe have settled into our new home on Lake Okoboji. How can I even explain its beauty? I mean, how blessed am I to be staying in a vacation home on a beautiful lake in Iowa? I am bursting with excitement. After we unpacked our very stuffed minivan, we did some shopping, ate some dinner, and went for a walk.I felt peaceful. And happy. There is nothing like true joy.The tourist season is over here. Most of the vacation homes sit empty. So it is quiet and calm. The streets in our … [Read more...]
