Speech Delays

March 2, 2012 By LaVonne

It is that time again for a Mommy Mindset discussion. This week we are talking about speech delays and our children. Lena: My kids are not early talkers and I get that each kid goes at his own speed. However, I cannot help myself - I compare my kids to other kids. My friend's 2 yo daughter speaks almost as good as my 4 yo, and my 2.5 yo boy finally started pointing instead of screaming when he wants something. Gena: Lena, do you speak more than one language at home? I've heard that can delay … [Read more...]

Baby’s Heartbeat

November 15, 2011 By LaVonne

sourceWe made it safely home! After a blessed weekend filled with baptisms and a wedding, we left Oklahoma on such a high note. We will miss our friends there. The flight home was pretty miserable. Two planes, one sick and pregnant mamma, and a 3 year old who didn't want to sleep. But we made it!After a restful night of sleep (praise the Lord for grandparents who are willing to take the Princess for the night!), we got ready to head to our first midwife appointment.Everything went well. And the … [Read more...]

Morning Sickness

October 28, 2011 By LaVonne

source I have been struggling for the last few weeks with morning sickness - all day! During my first pregnancy, I did great. I had a very smooth pregnancy. Didn't throw up once. This pregnancy? Miserable, so far! So imagine my surprise when I forgot to take my prenatal vitamin yesterday and I felt like a million bucks? I have been complaining to my husband (this must be his fault, right?) about feeling sick, feeling depressed, and basically not feeling like myself. So … [Read more...]

Pregnant!

October 14, 2011 By LaVonne

Yes, we wanted to have a baby in June 2012 and it looks like God has answered our prayers. I am due the first week of June!God is so good.We travel so much, we have to plan a baby around our already scheduled 2012 seminars. So pray for us as we travel back down this road. {Hopefully better equipped to deal with a newborn than we were with our Princess!}To tell you the truth, I am still quite terrified of having a newborn and a rambunctious preschooler in the house.Of course, my Princess is very … [Read more...]

We are Trying For a Second Child

We are Trying for a Second Child

We have decided this is the year we will try for our second child. Are we crazy or what? After getting through the newborn stage, baby stage, and early toddler stage, am I really choosing to go through it all again. I mean, it was really hard! Still is. (I must be crazy.) But, when listening to a radio program about an only child praying daily until age 8 for a sibling, I started feeling really bad. My Princess has been asking for months now for a sister. She pretends a baby is in … [Read more...]

Babies, Babies, Babies

March 26, 2010 By LaVonne

My husband keeps asking our Princess if she wants a baby. (He is trying to get her on his team for baby #2, of course.) It is not that I am not opposed to another baby. I love babies, I just realize that at this moment the thought of a newborn terrifies me. Were any of you terrified when you thought of a second child? One is a handful. When Bzz Agent asked me to join their Babies Ambassador program to promote a new film that follows the lives of four babies, I happily signed up. The movie really … [Read more...]

Dr. Sears: Attachment Parenting, Can I Get a Refund?

May 10, 2009 By LaVonne

It was a rough night last night. Isabella woke up more times than normal, and wanted to breastfeed to go back to sleep. Tyler had a big morning today and has to preach tonight as well, so I didn't want to disturb him. I just kept waking up and feeding her. (Yes, I am super mommy, didn't you know?) The Princess sleeps with us, and I still breastfeed, even a couple times per night. (Last night was worse.) Attachment parenting has its benefits, but today I am dwelling on how exhausted I am. You … [Read more...]
