Mustache Sugar Cookies!

June 16, 2013 By LaVonne

mustache sugar cookies

This Father's Day my Princess and I did some baking together. Sort of. I bought a roll of sugar cookie dough and we make mustache sugar cookies for Daddy, Papa, and Grandpa Greats. We had fun. It was an easy gift from my Princess, and they tasted so yummy!   I am not sure what she liked more - eating the frosting or rolling out cookie dough. She rolled and rolled a lot and only cut out a few cookies with our new mustache cookie cutters.   With three different funny mustaches to make, the … [Read more...]

It is that time of year to enjoy potato salad. We have dusted off our outdoor table and we can't wait for a warm evening to eat outdoors. In Washington, when we are off of work, we like to take advantage of summer weather. I am big sucker for potatoes and potato salad. So when I saw a recipe from Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil this week for Pesto Potato Salad, I could not resist making it. Only 7 simple ingredients and so yummy, Pesto Potato Salad is sure to please your family … [Read more...]

Tex Mex Brown Rice Salad

June 6, 2013 By LaVonne

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Success® Rice. This week we enjoyed sunshine in Western Washington. I mean real, summertime, warm sunshine! It was great. So when you hit 75 degrees at my home, no one wants a heavy  meal or hot food. A Tex-Mex Brown Rice Salad is a perfect summer evening meal. In fact, my 5 year old even loved it and my husband wants it again next week. Since I am on Weight Watchers, I am always on the look out for low points plus recipes ideas that … [Read more...]

Easy Desserts for Church Potluck

May 20, 2013 By LaVonne

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Private Selection for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine. I like easy desserts. With two kids and a busy life, the everday can get crazy. So when there are easy dessert options that make my life easier, I am grateful. Our latest go to dessert at home has been strawberries topped with a dallop of whipped cream. At home, that can fly with my family pretty easily. It is a favorite. But each week at church I like to bring a dessert that … [Read more...]

200 Best Ice Pop Recipes Book

May 16, 2013 By LaVonne

Thank you Robert Rose Books for sponsoring today's post. We love making our own ice pops during the Spring and Summer. It is so much more cost effective and I don't have to worry about what ingredients are in my pops. I can make them with any juice we have on hand and don't have to deal with artificial flavors, artificial colors or loads of sugar or corn syrup. When I had the chance to review 200 Best Ice Pop Recipes by Andrew Chase I knew I had to get this book. My 5 year old loves … [Read more...]

Vegan Ranch Dressing Recipe

May 2, 2013 By LaVonne

I was Vegan for six years. Now, though our family is no longer Vegan, we do eat a lot of vegan foods. My mother has been trying to eat mainly vegan now for a couple months. So while we are home, not traveling for my husband's work, we eat a lot of meals with my parents. Vegan meals. Last week we made a vegan ranch dressing. Vegan Ranch Dressing: 1 Cup Vegenaise or other vegan mayonnaise 1/2 Cup soy milk 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon onion powder 1/4 teaspoon … [Read more...]

Strawberry Apple Yogurt Smoothie

Thank you to Nuk for sponsoring today's discussion. My Little Man is almost 11 months old. He loves eating "big boy" foods now. No more purees for him. But he still has some difficult eating certain fruits and vegetables. We love fresh produce in our home and purchase organic whenever possible. Apples and strawberries are among my 5 year old's favorite fruits but both of these fruits are still a bit hard for my Little Man to eat. So the solution? The FreshFoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food … [Read more...]
