My Little Maid

January 17, 2009 By LaVonne

Isabella is starting to want to help clean. She has been obsessed with the dishwasher for over a month now but usually she is trying to take things out instead of load it. She also loves when I do laundry. When I throw things in the dryer from the washing machine I purposely put socks or her clothes on the door of the dryer so she can throw them in too. She loves it. Now if I can just get her to stop unfolding the laundry when it is done. This week I caught her trying to clean her toy. She had my … [Read more...]

Sunshine State

January 12, 2009 By LaVonne

This is why people live in California. It was 70 degrees today here in Colfax. I wore a new pair of shorts (bought them at the after season sale at Macy's for only $4.79. Check out their sales this week; they are having an extra 40% off clearance)! Isabella loves the park in Meadow Vista. There is a swing, which she loves and slides. Steps she can crawl on are very popular right now. After writing her top 10 I realized there are more things I wanted to add to the list, so … [Read more...]

Isabella’s Top 10

January 10, 2009 By LaVonne

(in no particular order)1. Cheerios and Spaghetti - she is going through this stage where she doesn't want anything but cheerios and shaghetti. Even things she used to love - like bananas - are passed on by. (Oh, and she will always eat a little of mommy's soy ice cream at night or popcorn.)2. Throw Your Hands in the Air - is a game that her and daddy play every day. He puts her on his shoulders and he sings, "throw your hands in the air, and wave them like you just don't care", and she sings … [Read more...]

Our Dog DJ

January 10, 2009 By LaVonne

DJ had to be put to sleep on Monday at 3 in the afternoon. It was very hard for us to say goodbye to a very much loved family member. He died in our arms and Tyler's loving words were the last he heard. One day we hope, (possibly on the Earth made new), to see our dog DJ again. We love you DJ dog. … [Read more...]

DJ Was Poisoned!

January 4, 2009 By LaVonne

We found two piles of puke today (we don't know how old they are) in our back yard. I wish we would have looked sooner. There was white bread with a green spongy material in it. We brought him to the emergency vet tonight with the bag of puke. One look and they said, "that is rat poison". We don't have rat poison here, so it came from someone else. We are sad to think someone would do this to our dog. We have an idea who it is but no proof of course. Tyler went to our neighbors to tell them and … [Read more...]

Update on DJ

January 3, 2009 By LaVonne

Well, we had a 9:20 am appt. today at the vet. They took blood from him and will send it to the lab for a battery of tests (including the test for diabetes). We will get a call sometime tomorrow morning with the results. I don't want to worry until I hear the results. (But I am still worried.) DJ has not been eating at all. Early in the week he was still eating but the last 3 days he hasn't had much more than a little salmon, and less than 10 dog treats. Tonight we gave him some chicken broth, … [Read more...]

100 Things You Always Wanted to Know About Me

January 2, 2009 By LaVonne

100 Things   1. My mother was 3 months pregnant with me when she married my father in 1978. 2. She did drink some alcohol at her wedding. 3. I like to tease her that I would be a genius if she hadn’t consumed alcohol. (Because I am close to genius level, really, ask anyone who knows me.) 4. I grew up on an Indian Reservation in Washington. 5. I am just over half Native American. 6. My family descends from the chiefs of my tribe. 7. One of my grandfathers, six generations … [Read more...]
