Vegetarians rely heavily on the availability of fresh vegetables to make the filling, well-rounded meals. Soy products, eggs, and cheese are also important parts of a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet. While soy, dairy, and vegetables may be the stars of the show, a well-stocked pantry full of grains, legumes, and other basic vegetarian pantry staples will help vegetarian cooks whip up healthy meals in a flash. Basic Staples for Every Cook These basic cooking elements are important to keep on … [Read more...]

Educational Games for Kids (that they’ll enjoy)

April 24, 2020 By LaVonne

We are in our fifth week at home doing school. Isabella is independent, learning with her class via Google Meet and Google Classroom. She's able to get her work done on her own. I am thankful -- I don't know if I remember any 6th grade school work. Nate is in second grade. He has packets of worksheets, Zoom calls, YouTube videos to watch, Epic Books to read online and then we supplement his Bible and PE. Schooling with a second grade boy is NOT easy. So when Thinkfun reached out to me to try … [Read more...]

March 24, 2020 By LaVonne

A guest post by Paul Krupin*. Coronavirus concerns are on everyone’s mind. One looming questions is how we can help each other? How can each of us make a difference? Many people have a robust front-line support system they can rely on for help. That could include family, friends, neighbors, clubs, faith groups and community organizations. But many others have no support network — no one to rely on if they get sick or are caring for sick loved ones. Here are some ideas on ways to help … [Read more...]

Deep Spring Cleaning Tips

March 23, 2020 By LaVonne

I like to think of spring cleaning as a way to make everything new again. After being closed up all winter, the first and most important task is to open windows. Letting out the stale smells of winter and welcoming fresh air in seems to make everyone feel better. This Spring has begun quite strangely due to the virus pandemic. We have a lot of days at home to do a great deep Spring cleaning. So I want to share some deep spring cleaning tips. Bedroom I start in the back bedroom and … [Read more...]

Ten Great At-Home Learning Tips

March 19, 2020 By LaVonne

We are on day three of at-home learning and for the most part it's gone well. But, I am worried what the next six weeks (or more) will look like. Most of you know that I did homeschool my daughter for three years. And know she is in sixth grade. Isabella is very independent and does her work each day on her own. All of her work is done on an iPad and is completely online. My 2nd grade son has to be constantly worked with. He doesn't want to sit and do any of his worksheets. He only has about 5-6 … [Read more...]
