The Hero Mom in My Life is Fighting Brain Cancer

My sister in law, Melanie, has just finished her 5th round of chemotherapy for her brain cancer. She is almost half-way done with chemo. Please, follow her story on Bucket List Family blog. She is a cancer fighter! With three young boys, 9 and under, she is truly a hero mom. I am proud of her strength and dignity as she goes through this journey with brain cancer. Melanie is trying to live life to the fullest while she is here with her young boys, thus the Bucket List Family began. They are crossing amazing things off their bucket list together as a family. While she is fighting to stay healthy during chemo, she is putting her boys first and getting very involved in the brain cancer community.

This month I nominated her as My Hero Mom for Northwestern Mutual’s #MyHeroMom initiative. I love this campaign from Northwestern Mutual. For every picture you upload (to either Twitter, Instagram or Facebook with hashtag #MyHeroMom), Northwestern Mutual will donate $5 towards Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Here’s a short 1 minute video about the #MyHeroMom intiative:

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand

Alexandra “Alex” Scott, a 4-year-old girl on a mission to find a cure for all childhood cancers is the star behind Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Their mission is two-fold:

  • To raise money and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily research into new treatments and cures.
  • To encourage and empower others, especially children, to get involved and make a difference for children with cancer.

I participated in an Ambassador Activation on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for the Northwestern Mutual Foundation. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating.
