Parenting A Toddler: 5 Important Tips

March 29, 2011 By LaVonne

tips on parenting

Time outs? Restrictions? Spankings? We have a very stubborn toddler here in our home. She like most three year old children  need discipline. The punishment she dislikes the most is time outs. We have followed the rule that the time out is equal to her age. So she is getting 3 minute time outs right now. A frequent issue that we have been dealing with is during our travel. I am very careful to keep her within eye sight at all times when we are traveling on the road for my husband's work. … [Read more...]

How to Be a Good Mommy

August 10, 2010 By LaVonne

Good Mommy That is what I am striving to be. But most days, I need help. I freely admit it. I am convicted throughout the day about my lack of patience, my temper, my tone of voice. I want to be a good example to my daughter, Many days, life with a toddler - a two year old, can be exhausting, demanding, annoying, difficult... You name it and I have felt it. But, I want her to see Jesus in me no matter what. That is my biggest desire. But there are many days that I am rushing through my … [Read more...]

August 25, 2009 By LaVonne

Ten things I can now do with only one hand: (While holding a toddler, of course.) In no particular order of importance: 1. Type up a new blog post . (See what I do for you all?All 10 of you or so.) 2. Upload and edit 50+ pictures from my digital camera (which I still don't know how to use.) 3. Flip blueberry banana whole wheat pancakes (hubby's wonderful recipe, they are super yummy). 4. Use the bathroom, pull up and zip pants. (TMI, but this one is pretty hard.) 5. Read a book. (That … [Read more...]

Toddler Discipline

April 1, 2009 By LaVonne

I recently wrote a post about time outs with my toddler. I wanted to expand on that theme a bit by discussing toddler discipline.  My 15 month old daughter is truly pushing her limits and as a result my limits have been stretched. I am trying not to lose patience but to be honest, sometimes that is difficult. I keep praying though and trying to be consistent. I also try not to laugh when things get so bad it is funny. Once I laugh I know I have lost her. She just keeps it up (fill in the … [Read more...]

Baby Einstein

January 29, 2009 By LaVonne

1 More Reason My Daughter is the Real Baby Einstein: My daughter is a baby Einstein.  Really. In the morning after I change her diaper I know to expect within the next 30 minutes that she will go poo poo. I can usually smell it. So I say, "Isabella go poo poo?" and I make the sign language sign for potty. Usually, she will come up to me and turn around so I can check her diaper, or if she is feeling spunky she will start to run away. Yesterday morning she had a BIG poo poo. I laid her down … [Read more...]
